Support Equipment Mechanic supporting Customs Boarder Protection (CBP NAM)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for, but not limited to:

Performing daily, mileage and hourly inspections on all vehicles and ground support equipment

Performing daily maintenance, trouble-shooting and fault isolation on assigned vehicles and ground support equipment

Furnishing own hand tools to perform maintenance on all assigned vehicles (necessary special tools and test equipment will be furnished by Customs)


The incumbent's supervisor is the Contractor Maintenance Supervisor. The supervisor outlines procedures and policies in the performance of support equipment maintenance. In field deployment, the incumbent shall coordinate his activities with the Government Site Manager.


May be required to perform other duties as assigned.


Must have had at least four (4) years of experience working full-time on diesel generators and vehicles.

Must have had at least one (1) year of experience on gasoline engines and vehicles.

Must have a current, valid state Chauffeurs License.

Primary Responsibilities * Provide troubleshooting, maintenance and repair on heavy mining equipment * Work with diesel and gas engines, hydraulics * Perform basic welding functions as needed Qualifications * Two or more years' previous mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience * Knowledge of diesel and gas engines, hydraulics, pneumatics and 24V electrical systems * Welding certification is desirable * Ability to work both inside and outside as required Working Conditions * Shop and outdoors surface mine environment; constant standing and walking on uneven terrain as needed. Work outdoors as needed in ambient temperatures. Lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Must be able to climb on and access equipment safely.
