Support Engineer

We are looking for a technical and hands-on Support Engineer responsible for managing all aspects of production operations for Operations, Middle Office and Corporate Technology applications. We are looking for a talented Support Engineer with prior OpenLink Endur experience to join the team. Although supporting and managing the OpenLink Endur platform will be a primary focus, you will also be given the opportunity to work on many other business critical applications which this team is responsible for.

Your day to day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Change and Release Management

  • Capacity and BCP Planning

  • Handling of production inquires and incidents (direct stakeholder engagement)

  • Ensure production stability by reducing and escalating risks, proactive monitoring of the production environment, and proactive remediation of issues

Qualifications/Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in a STEM subject (science, technology, engineering, math)

  • At least 5+ years of professional experience in an Application/Production Support capacity

  • Extensive experience with OpenLink Endur and exposure to Commodities trading

  • Other Technical Skills:

  • Strong SQL and data analysis skills

  • Ability to applications on Windows and Unix platforms

  • Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Powershell, etc.)

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with the following platforms
  • GitHub, TeamCity, Jenkins, Artifactory, Octopus, OpsGenie, Datadog, Elasticsearch, etc.
  • Experience with the following technologies
  • AWS, Kafka, RabbitMQ or related technologies
  • Knowledge of ITIL best practices, specifically Incident Management

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Exhibits sense of urgency and ownership

The candidate will provide subject matter expertise to client-facing Tier 1 support teams around the globe. It handles client requests that require enhanced knowledge of the application functionality, architecture and infrastructure. Tier 2 will work with Axiom personnel and clients in gathering relevant information and assist Axiom development teams in producing solutions. </p><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p><strong>Work hours/environment:</strong> While working withing the Follow-the-Sun support model, position requires some flexibility of work hours. The position is based in New York City but due to COVID-19, the hired candidate will commence remotely and receive virtual equipment and on-boarding. </p> <p><strong>Detailed Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Assist Tier1 Technical Support personnel with problem resolution and information queries. Provide on-demand product information when a documentation is not available. Explain best ways to implement client-specific scenarios.</li> <li>Reproduce suspected bugs, document detailed issue scenarios and provide workarounds. Give development teams with comprehensive information to facilitate permanent solutions. Be able to explain the product behavior to Tier1 and/or client directly.</li> <li>Keep Tier1 informed of future releases, patches and known issues. Constantly educate Tier1 on new features and improve its level of expertise</li> <li>Assist in maintaining the Knowledge Base of common problems, questions and recommendations</li> <li>Help Tier1 and the customers analyze application performance, detect problems and provide recommendations, provide infrastructure expertise.</li> <li>Software development, testing, or system administrative tasks may be assigned in addition to the support duties.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Required Skills:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Minimum 5 years of experience in Technical Support, System Administration, QA or Software Development.</li> <li>Knowledge of one or more major databases (Oracle, MS SQL, Sybase, MySQL, etc), ability to write, analyze and optimize SQL queries.</li> <li>Familiarity with Linux systems, especially understanding the shell and OS performance turning.</li> <li>Familiarity with Windows Server systems, working knowledge of AD/LDAP features and principles.</li> <li>Basic AWS understanding, a Foundational AWS certification or higher would be a big plus.</li> <li>Ability to learn quickly and multi-task, work within short time constraints.</li> <li>Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to details, adherence to best practices as defined by the organization.</li> <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong client focus.</li> <li>Flexibility to be on call off-hours per special arrangements with the management.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Skills:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Overall experience in web stack and its components.
