Major Duties and Responsibilities Benefits Supplemental Questions

Provide lessons, presentations, and information materials to students, teachers, or other school personnel as requested. Assist citizens in planning and implementing community cleanup activities.

Assist in planning and implementing special events, programs, and projects. Provide customer service and information to the public and various organizations regarding solid waste, recycling, and disposal. Support the internal office functions as necessary.

Develop "Constant Contact" Earthnotes E-Newsletter, Update E-Newsletter List. Develop and Send PSA to New Media. Maintain Social Media (FaceBook, Instagram and Twitter). Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of clerical practices and procedures.

Knowledge of department, division, and Columbus Consolidated Government policies and procedures.

Knowledge of basic Fleet Maintenance terms, procedures, and regulations. Skill in the operation of standard office equipment. Skill in the operation of computers and various software programs. Skill in oral and written communication.


Minimum Educational and Training

Requirements:

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.

Physical Requirements:

The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching. The employee occasionally lifts light objects.

Develops and prepares annual KCBC Budget. Administers, manages and implements Keep Columbus Beautiful Commission outreach programs including, but not limited to: Help the Hooch, Magic of Recycling, Christmas Tree Recycling, City wide Arbor Day Celebration, Community Beautification and Cleanup Projects, Waste in Place Educational Programs; Martin Luther King Jr. Serve-a Thon, Shoe Recycling, Tour of Gardens, Earth Day, personal paper shredding, Annual Awards Luncheon, and other related projects. Duties including planning and implementation, maintaining reports, training and supervising staff /volunteers, and preparing PSA to inform the general public of events. Administers and coordinates collaborative government outreach programs involving work with other divisional directors and staff (Recycling, Storm Water and Urban Forestry & Beautification). Develops, implements and evaluates, environmental education programs focusing on solid waste education, recycling, litter prevention, beautification and community involvement efforts. Supervises trains and evaluates staff, volunteers, and other assigned positions directing work assignments for program tasks, educational outreach services, and special projects. Designs, develops, produces and edits publications (e.g. brochures, manuals, reports, broadcasts, newsletters for various division programs related to solid waste, recycling, litter prevention, waste reduction, community improvement and beautification services). Presents community presentations on litter prevention, beautification, solid waste, landfill, waste reduction, recycling and other environmental education topics to a variety of age groups, using various educational techniques; teach and evaluate programs for groups with special needs. Develops and evaluates new environmental educational programs for the community at- large (i.e. schools, businesses, civic and social organizations,) regarding the importance of litter prevention, beautification, and waste reductions practices: evaluates and updates existing programs. Prepares and receives all programmatic correspondence and documentation including reports, letters and forms; reviews, processes and/or forwards as appropriate. Directs, supervises and coordinates data collection; prepares bi-annual litter reports qualitative data for Georgia Department of Community Affairs and Keep America Beautiful national organization. Collects, maintains and annually prepares financial reports for CCG Officials, State and National Keep America Beautiful Affiliates. Plans and organizes KCBC Board of Directors' Bi-monthly Board Meetings. Submits briefing of the meetings to Clerk of Council within 48 hours. Prepares, writes and submits grant proposals. Designs, exhibits, and displays resources as needed to further the program and departmental goals. Directs or responds to citizen calls from 311 Citizen's Service Center. Creates sponsorship packages and raises funds for KCGBC non-profit organization. Receives, copies and deposits membership and program/ project funds to the bank. Hosts CCG-TV Earthnotes television program to educate the public on environmental programs and projects twice monthly. Serves on various environmental boards and committees such as Trees Columbus, Coalition for Sound Growth and CCG Tree Board. Assists staff in developing Earthnotes Newsletter monthly. Submits updated information to Columbus Consolidated Government Information Technology Department website as needed. Promotes and sets up Sustainability and Recycling Center for meeting and conferences. Manages staff and volunteer intern students when available for the following duties: maintaining phones, serving customers, preparing schedule for tours of the Sustainability and Recycling Center, preparing letters, assisting with payroll, preparing and maintaining files. Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of program/project focuses, team development and supervision of volunteers. Knowledge of basic accounting and math skills, use of computer and understanding of budget. Skill in organizing conferences, managing the logistics of organizing successful meetings, tours and educational programs. Skill in presenting impromptu presentations. Skill in effective planning, implementing, time management. Skill in recruiting, training, coaching, and inspiring volunteer leadership. Skill in creating and updating documents, explore information on the web and internet, maintain information, prepare repayments, develop project timelines, respond to email inquiries, administer educational programs. Skill in the usage of digital camera, Fax Machine, Scanner, Television, and Credit Card Machine. Skill in oral and written communication. Minimum Educational and Training Requirements: A Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or related field is required. Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of Keep America Beautiful Executive Directors training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills. Six hours of annual update training at State or National level. Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation provides state training and National training is provided by Keep America Beautiful during annual conference. Must maintain Keep America Beautiful Certification, semi-annual and annual reports are required. Sufficient experience that would enable the employee to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position. Possession of a valid driver's license from the state of residence. Physical Requirements: The work is performed while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending and crouching. The employee frequently lifts heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses power/hand tools, and uses equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.
