Job Description:

Application Analysts are the primary contact for firms operating Thomson Elite software. Their primary duty is to assist customers to effectively utilize Thomson Elite software to meet their firm's business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Problem resolution:

  • Gathers complete information from clients, documents steps taken, researches the knowledgebase and documentation for known solutions, isolates causes and takes restorative actions while minimizing disruption to the client's business operation.

  • Uses remote access utilities and other resources during the troubleshooting process and escalates issues to senior level analysts when necessary for further analysis.

  • Communicates complex procedures or diverse information to resolve customer issues.

Customer satisfaction:

  • Responds and communicates effectively with clients in order to build trust and loyalty.

  • Acts with an appropriate sense of urgency, follows up with clients to ensure issues are resolved to the client's satisfaction, develops rapport through personal interaction and provides courteous, friendly treatment.

Teamwork:

  • Interacts constructively with colleagues to resolve customer issues in the most effective manner.

  • Participates in team meetings and contributes suggestions and solutions to increase cooperation and effectiveness.

  • Actively seeks and applies knowledge gained from colleagues and outside resources and shares that knowledge with others.

Technical expertise:

  • Acquires and maintains expertise on the Thomson Elite software product set and its operating platforms. Requires a good working knowledge of how client firms could utilize or adapt the software to effectively manage their business from a financial and operational perspective.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education and/or work experience

  • Minimum of 2 years technical support or related experience in a software manufacturing environment

  • Technical knowledge of MS-Windows and fundamental concepts of databases (preferably SQL)

  • Deductive logic, complex problem solving and excellent trouble shooting skills

  • Self-directed, able to prioritize and effectively handle many incidents at a time

  • Exceptional customer service, organizational, and time management skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with business financial operations and/or accounting

  • Experience in the business of law or exposure to other professional services firms

  • Prior experience as a user of Thomson Elite software or other exposure to Thomson Elite software

The applicant will work on other related assignments or projects as career progresses. On any given day, you may be called on to: * Analyze experimental data using existing and in-development physics codes * Interact with other staff working on code development, experiments and/or code validation * Predict future EM experimental responses * Write or present work results * Attend technical meetings * Attend appropriate technical interchanges or conferences off-site * Complete training for corporate required training such as Environmental safety and security * Attend department meetings once a week * Contribute to future planning and direction in Radiation Effects Sciences Qualifications We Require * PhD in plasma Physics or related field or MS degree in physics or engineering with 5 or more years of experience in modeling and simulation of EM and plasma physics problems * The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Security Clearance Qualifications We Desire * Demonstrated work or experience using mod/sim to analyze plasma physics and/or EM problems * Ability to work with High Performance Computing codes and architectures * Excellent presentation and writing skills * The ability to communicate and work with project groups * Knowledge of/or mod/sim capability in electron emission from material surfaces * Knowledge or ability to incorporate gas chemistry into plasma/EM * Knowledge or experience with Particle-in-cell (PIC code) * Knowledge or experience with high powered diode operation or pulsed power sciences * Demonstrated ability to write reports and papers * Knowledge of radiation effects * Familiarity with dosimetry techniques for assessing radiation effects * Ability to do limited travel About Our Team Department 1343, Radiation Effects Experimentation, is primarily a department that performs radiation effects experiments using photon, ion, neutron, electron, and laser sources located at Sandia National Laboratories and other laboratories throughout the United States. We perform experiments and analyses to qualify the performance of weapon and satellite electronic piece parts, subsystems, and systems in radiation environments. The department also does basic and applied research on radiation effects for both electronics and materials and develops experimental and radiation diagnostic techniques to support this research. One important experimental activity is the conduct of experiments, the results of which validate computer codes that through modeling and simulation will be used to qualify weapon and satellite electronic systems to various pulsed radiation environments and effects. The department personnel also provide design guidance to electronic designers to assure proper design techniques related to mitigating the deleterious effect of radiation on the electronic performance.
