Under the direction of the IT Manager, the Support Administrator will provide technical and troubleshooting support to employees in need of assistance with their computer hardware or software.

Responsibilities (Specific tasks, duties, essential functions of the job)
PC hardware installation & troubleshooting
Desktop software installation and troubleshooting for local and remote users
Provide Desktop support and problem solving to end-users
Tracking of hardware and software additions/changes
Create / Update FAQs and other technical documentation
Participate in creation and editing of IT Support Standard Operating Procedures
Provide escalation support for Helpdesk Technicians

The County job classification associated with this title is Computer Systems Specialist I/II. The Computer Systems Specialist I/II is a flexibly staffed series. Positions in this class support large groups of users and many different applications. Incumbents evaluate and recommend changes or additions to a department's computer systems using a substantial knowledge of information technology systems and methods as well as knowledge of departmental operations. Incumbents also perform specialized duties as required by the department to which they are assigned, such as administering LANs/WANs; developing Web sites; and writing database queries, designing and producing database reports, and evaluating, modifying, and maintaining departmental databases. Incumbents work with minimal technical support from other positions within the assigned department, and often serve as a department's principal contact with the County's central ITS staff, and with vendors of specialized software, related to overall systems' needs, design, and operations. Computer Systems Specialist I is the entry-journey classification. Incumbents learn to perform the full range of technical support duties. Computer Systems Specialist II is the full journey-level classification, and incumbents perform the complete range of technical support duties. NOTE: Depending on the candidate's qualifications and the needs of the department, the selected candidate(s) may be appointed at the I or II level. BOTH LEVELS REQUIRE THE FOLLOWING: Additional Qualifications: Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License is required at the time of appointment. Supplemental Information Supplemental Information regarding potential requirements for some positions: * The ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds; work in tight or awkward spaces, such as under desks, to move back and forth within and between office and equipment rooms. * Work on weekend or off hours and be on standby during peaks/special assignments. * Successfully complete a background check.
