Supply Technicians participate in the procurement, receipt, storage, issuing, shipment, property control, inventory, and recordkeeping for a wide variety of assets to include, but not limited to, the following: property, equipment, services, food, forms, parts and supplies.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position supervises daily operations of the Nevada Department of Transportation's (NDOT) Carson City Stockroom.
This position will locate and procure supplies, services, and materials within monetary limits directly from vendors and initiate procurement orders via the credit card or requisition and purchase order process.
Duties also include reconciling monthly NDOT credit card statements, verifying all purchase card activity on a daily basis, and supervising and maintaining records relating to purchasing and distribution of supplies.
This position receives purchases from vendors directly or via common carrier freight, parcel service, mail and stockroom transfer.

Learn more about this agency Responsibilities * Serves as a supervisory wildland firefighter on a wildland fire engine, performing and supervising crews performing wildland firefighting work, i.e., wildland fire suppression and control activities including suppression, preparedness, prevention, monitoring, hazardous fuels reduction, and prescribed burning. Directs the operation of a wildland fire engine, ensuring the correct positioning, proper use and operation. * Provides technical and administrative supervision to wildland fire engine crews. Plans work, sets and adjusts short term priorities, prepares schedules for completion of work, and assigns work to subordinates. Implements formal and informal training programs to comply with policy and regulations. * Responsible for maintenance of specialized equipment used to respond to wildland urban interface/intermix situations, ensure engine is kept in a full state of readiness for emergency fire dispatch, and accomplishes emergency repairs. Will be required to use chainsaws. * Gathers and considers information on weather data, topography, fuel types, and fire behavior during suppression of wildland fire incidents. THIS IS A DRUG TESTING DESIGNATED POSITION in accordance with Executive Order 12564, and under the Department's Drug Free Workplace Program. This position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use. * NOTE: If location requires possession of a CDL for a specific engine type, the following policy will be in place: This position requires possession of a Commercials Driver's License (CDL). It is a Drug and Alcohol Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991. If the selectee for the position does not currently occupy a CDL Drug and Alcohol Testing Designated Position, he/she will be required to submit to and receive a negative test result prior to appointment. A positive drug or alcohol test result may be grounds for denying final placement into this position. The incumbent will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing and that he/she may also undergo reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return-to-duty, and follow-up testing. This is a primary firefighter position under the special retirement provisions of 5 U.S.C. 8336(c) (CSRS) and 5 U.S.C. 8412(d) (FERS). The position is subject to maximum entry age (MEA) requirements. The MEA for this position shall not exceed age 37; unless you have sufficient prior Federal civilian firefighter experience or you are a preference eligible veteran. If you are a veteran with preference, you may be eligible for this position after your 37th birthday. Qualifications Specialized Experience Requirements: In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled. To qualify for the GS-06 grade level, 1 year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to GS-05 is required. Examples of work experience include, but are not limited to: on-the-line wildland fire experience managing resources, equipment, and tools directly related to the suppression of wildfires as a Senior Firefighter. To qualify for the GS-07 grade level, 1 year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to GS-06 is required. Examples of work experience include, but are not limited to: on-the-line wildland fire experience leading or managing resources, equipment, and tools directly related to the suppression of wildfires as an Assistant Module leader or as an Engine Boss. Substitution of Education for Experience: For GS-06: 18 semester hours of graduate education which is DIRECTLY related to work of the position OR an equivalent combination of specialized experience and education. For GS-07: 18 semester hours of graduate education which is DIRECTLY related to work of the position OR an equivalent combination of specialized experience and education. Time-in-Grade: Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. Selective Placement Factor(s): This position requires a special qualification that has been determined to be essential to perform the duties and will be used as a screen out element. The MEA is the date immediately preceding your 37th birthday. Physical Demands: Arduous - Duties involve rigorous fieldwork requiring above average physical performance, endurance and superior conditioning. Work requires prolonged standing, walking over uneven ground, and recurring bending, reaching, lifting and carrying of items weighing over 50 pounds and shared lifting and carrying of heavier items, and similar strenuous activities requiring at least average agility and dexterity. Duties include demands for strenuous activities in emergencies under adverse environmental conditions and over extended periods of time. Operation of some specialized fire equipment can place extended physical stress on incumbent during fire activities. Work Environment: The work I primarily performed in forest and range environments in steep terrain where surfaces may be extremely uneven, rocky, covered with vegetation, and in smoky conditions, etc. Temperatures vary from above 100 degrees F to below freezing. Risks include smoke inhalation, fire entrapment, snake or insect bites and stings, exposure to excessive machinery noise, and falling and rolling material. May be required to live in backcountry camps for extended periods of time. The work requires that personal protective equipment be worn. Work may require travel by light fixed-wing or rotor-wing aircraft. Education This position has a substitution of education for Specialized Experience.
