Key job responsibilities

  • Support in developing and implementing regional/global electrical and electronics supply strategy across nVent (spend category >$100M).

  • Support the Global Category Manager to drive sustainable year over year cost reductions > 5% while maintaining a project funnel with > 8% savings opportunities in electrical/electronics commodities.

  • Drive supplier selection, development, and overall supplier management with site partners/team members aligned with the business strategy.

  • Interface with the sites on issues of forecasting, planning, and strategy alignment.

  • Continually assess market conditions which may affect procurement, and recommend procurement and materials management strategy changes.

  • Monitor, manage and report on all influences to cost and performance, including economic, legislative, political and environmental factors, conducting regular benchmarking to ensure competitive advantage.

  • Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives with strategic electrical suppliers and distributors to meet business objectives.

  • Identify new areas to support standardization of components and consolidation of supply base.

  • Conduct supplier performance and business plan reviews with strategic suppliers for leverage and future planning.

  • Respond to unforeseen supply failures, working with suppliers and sites to deliver solutions to avoid manufacturing and customer line stops, mitigating costs.

  • Support in supplier negotiations, maintain and develop relationships with all strategic suppliers, ensure contracts are legally binding and auditable elements are accurately documented and retained, including periodic credit reviews.


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering desired but will consider Business Administration, Materials Management, Supply Chain, Operations, or other Engineering or related degree.

  • Comprehensive understanding of the Electrical and Electronics market.

  • Low cost country sourcing experience.

  • Capable of supporting global negotiations for high value strategic supply contracts with ability to develop and understand legal contracts.

  • Familiarity with sourcing in highly regulated environments (commercial & residential, energy, industrial and infrastructure industries) a plus.

  • Good understanding of product cost construction and the ability to interpret supplier costing sheets.

  • Results driven, problem solver with proven ability to drive projects to a successful conclusion.

  • Team oriented and good communication skills are essential.

  • Periodic domestic/international travel to nVent facilities and suppliers is required (20-25%).

Summary We are currently looking for an Associate Director, Project Management, to join our Research Division, for Bristol Myers Squibb in Redwood City, CA. The successful candidate will play an integral role as a key team member in supporting our research programs. Specific Responsibilities Partner with research leads to manage the development and execution of project team strategy and to optimize team effectiveness in achieving program objectives in alignment with timelines. As an essential member of the Discovery Working Groups (DWG), work with team leadership to ensure aligned development plans. Establish and maintain functionally integrated project schedules to enable accurate project timelines. Support project sub-teams as needed and ensure alignment with project sub-teams and functional partners. Facilitate core team meetings, cross-functional communication and decision making, ensuring alignment with internal stakeholders. Ensure core team activities and decisions are clearly communicated, documented and archived, act as a primary contact for project team related information. Identify, recommend, and manage the implementation of process and other improvements; whether pertinent to departmental and/or site. Provide or drive immediate and accurate communication of key decisions/results that have team, asset, and/or organizational impact. Requirements BS, MS, MBA, PhD, or other advanced degree in a physical or natural science with 5 or more years of project management experience in the Discovery and/or pharmaceutical industry. A strong scientific background and familiarity with discovery drug development is desirable. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team which include Discovery, Translational Medicine, and early/late Development governance and other key functions. Demonstrated proficiency in project management, including planning, execution, delivery and reporting and experience in handling multiple projects. Ability to anticipate risks and identify issues and to troubleshoot and create solutions, balancing portfolio and asset needs. Strong communication skills, and ability to communicate with stakeholders from diverse functional areas. Strong ability to prioritize and operate with a sense of urgency. Comfort with ambiguity and complexity required; must be open to work across multiple projects and modalities simultaneously. Strong interpersonal skills with polish and presence; ability to influence others at all levels and lead in a matrixed organization. Build and manage relationships with key cross-matrix stakeholders. Demonstrate influence across Discovery, TM, and R&D functional leadership. Build and integrate the Translational Strategy into the DWG Utilize project management tools to build and sustain high performing cross functional teams.
