The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation (YKHC) is located in the Southwestern Alaska town of Bethel, with a total of approximately 6,000 people. YKHC supports 1500 employees, providing the health services to a primarily Yup'ik Eskimo Native population for an area the size of Oregon. Services are provided through a Bethel located hospital and 50 clinics throughout the YK Delta.

Position Summary:

Provide procurement and supply distribution services to the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation and the Yukon Kuskokwim Delta Regional Hospital. Maintain all supply rooms at the YKDRH. Cooperate with other warehouse staff in maintaining the Distribution Center.

Position Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent GED.

  • Minimum Experience: Word Processing and database application experience highly desired. At least six (6) months working in a position with similar duties.

  • License, Certification, Registration: Valid State of Alaska License. HazMat/IATA & forklift certification with a year of accepting position.

  • Equipment/Tools: Computer, fax machine, copier

  • Specialized Knowledge and

    Skills:
    Type 35 wpm; basic knowledge of computers; ability to meet deadlines; ability to work well with others; work with minimal supervision.
  • Language Skills:
    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

  • Mathematical Skills:
    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers , common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Position Summary: Sterile Processing Technician I: Under direct/indirect supervision follows approved infection control, quality assurance and departmental policies and procedures. Collects, cleans, decontaminates, disinfects, and/or sterilizes surgical instruments, trays and packs, reusable medical devices and patient care equipment for Inpatient Nursing and Clinics. Inventories, restocks, and distributes instruments, reusable medical equipment and medical supplies to all service areas. Works a majority of time in a Sterile Processing Department cleaning, preparing, assembling, sterilizing, preparing packs, instruments, and trays for all service areas. Will process operating room instruments. May assist in departmental in-services and training. Correctly documents sterilization records and completes departmental dashboard on a monthly basis. Performs routine duties according to AMMI standards and established policies and procedures of the Department. Within one year of employment must obtain a Sterile Processing Certification (SPD) Position Qualifications: * Minimum Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent. * Minimum Experience: This is entry level position and the employee will be trained by a certified Sterile Processing Department Technician (SPD) * Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge or willingness to learn sterilization procedures, equipment, instruments, wrapping and repackaging of instruments. Knowledge or willingness to learn inventory system and maintain adequate inventory levels of supplies and equipment within the surgical department. * Equipment/Tools: Responsible to learn and distinguish all sterilization equipment dealt with in Surgery.
