General Mills is seeking a Zero Loss Culture (ZLC) Leader. The ZLC Leader will be responsible for driving the integration of the site pillars and become the site primary point of contact within the region. The leader will be responsible for the right understanding and deployment of ZLC pillars (Autonomous Maintenance (AM), Planned Maintenance (PM), Organization (ORG), Focused Improvement (FI), Health Safety Environment (HSE), Food Safety and Quality (FSQ), Work Process Improvement (WPI), Leadership (LDR), Supply Network (SN), Early Management (EM), Learning and Development (L&D) across the plant including tools, best practices, standards, behaviors, coaching and training materials; will ensure proper alignment with the Plant Leadership Team on activities and results; and coordinate across the plant pillar owners and pillar teams. The ZLC leader will also be responsible for establishing standards and appropriately merging current practices to global standard expectations. The central focus of this role is to model, coach, build capabilities and develop the behaviors, standards, and leadership skills that are required to drive sustained World Class manufacturing performance through the consistent application of ZLC across site. The role involves site manufacturing plant leadership, ownership of content development and governance, and capability building that meets the implementation pace required for the site.

Acting as the expert, the Leader will watch externally and internally any potential best practices that could be redeployed and may also run ad-hoc shop floor workshops defined to support capability building efforts.

Plant Zero Loss Culture deployment:

  • Support the Plant Manager to drive and lead ZLC and ensure enrollment and alignment across the site.

  • Drive & support implementation of ZLC standards across all pillars with the standardized global expectations

  • Connect with the plant manager and regional pillar leads, drive integration and understand and deliver training needs and standards

  • Champion Leadership, Planned Maintenance, Autonomous Maintenance, Organizational Excellence and Learning & Development Pillars for the site

  • Ensure consistent application of Pillar standards

  • Provide ZLC and pillar expertise that will help the site accelerate implementation pace

  • Continuously improve our process/methods, share best practices, ensure that the current approach incorporates best in class benchmarks

  • Builds organization capability by inspiring, leading, developing, coaching site leaders and teams

Capability Building:

  • Work Across with regional teams on any ZLC training needs

  • Develop, lead and coach site pillar leaders and pillar teams

  • Enroll plant population and focus on culture development to work differently

  • Build capability in work process, rigor, delivering results, and support the cascading master planning process

  • Provide current state assessment and gap management process for site pillars, provide direction and support plants through coaching of standards

  • Provide content development, training and role modeling, health checks and governance

Health check:

  • Perform health checks and audits for the plants to ensure they meet their plans

  • Build relationships with regional pillar owners and collaborate on best practice implementation

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or related field required

  • Minimum of 7 years direct experience as an operational practitioner of Pillar Methodology & processes; proven success as a highly effective influencer, change agent and coach; 10 years of experience preferred

  • In-depth mastery of pillar processes and methodology

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully apply systems knowledge across a variety of plant cultures, product platforms

  • Demonstrated coaching effectiveness and ability to inspire and influence change across organizational boundaries

  • Fluency and belief in zero loss culture elements

  • Manufacturing/Operating Department manager experience

  • Experience in a business facing and/or proven understanding of end to end supply chain and business connection

  • Track record of delivering outstanding results

  • Prior experience inspiring, leading and motivating a team to achieve results

  • Ability to influence internal partners to decisions that enable business result

  • Experience interacting with multiple business functions

  • Exposure to inspiring, leading and motivating people in a ZLC environment

  • Experience in high performance work system and/or transforming building high performance work system and teams


  • Manufacturing experience in at least two technical functions: Manufacturing Operations, Engineering, or any additional technical field

  • Certifications: Lean manufacturing, CI, TPM, Six Sigma a plus
