Northrop Grumman is seeking qualified and motivated professionals for the role of Subcontracts Specialist 1 with experiences in supply chain management and/or related fields (including business and financial planning, contracts administration, project management, logistics, and manufacturing). NGMS domestic facilities are located in Maryland, California, Chicago, Virginia, Alabama, Colorado, New York, and Florida. Additionally, some positions may be remotely supported from other NGMS facilities. Depending on the location, Northrop Grumman may be able to provide relocation assistance and flexible work arrangements.

The Subcontract Specialist 1 responsibilities will encompass:

  • Preparing and executing a mixed portfolio of subcontracts

  • Ensuring compliance to company policies and procedures

  • Understanding the buyer and seller's roles to establish mutually successful business arrangements

  • Specifying solicitations and bid packages

  • Evaluating proposals and negotiating prices/terms

  • Developing and administrating contractual documentation and post awards

Candidates must be able to make sound decisions in a timely manner, display strong interpersonal skills, and have an agile perspective of compliance protocol mandated by regulated industry.

Basic Qualifications:

A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must possess:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree from an accredited institution

  • 0 years of professional experience in supply chain management, or related fields, to include business and financial planning, contracts administration, project management, logistics, or manufacturing

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking and innovative behaviors in past projects, roles or experiences

  • Proficiency in MS Office suite

  • Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated strong leadership skills as well as the ability to multi-task in a challenging environment

Professional experience in a regulated industry; to include Aerospace & Defense, Insurance, Financial Services, Telecommunications

SAP experience

Knowledge of FAR/DFAR

The successful applicant will become a part of Northrop Grumman's Category Management Direct Group within the Mission Systems Sector, which is engaged throughout all aspects of the core technologies used within our major systems. Responsibilities will encompass the full range of the subcontract acquisition process including preparation and execution of a mixed portfolio of subcontracts while ensuring compliance to company policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will understand the buyer and the seller roles in establishing mutually successful business arrangements, with experiences in work specifications and solicitations/bid packages, proposal evaluation, price and term negotiations, development of contractual documentation and post award administration. Candidates must be able to make sound decisions in a timely manner, display strong interpersonal skills, and have an agile perspective of compliance protocol mandated by regulated industry. Within the Category Management organization the candidate will support a team-based organization and perform activities in a variety of cross-functional areas including but not limited to strategic analysis, complex negotiations, materials planning, procurement execution/award, finance, and internal customer service. Ideal candidates are generally experienced in one or more areas of the procurement or contractual function(s), developing business relationships, and demonstrating an affinity for working with, or understanding both manufacturing and technology. This position is responsible for executing major procurement activities and providing contractual support and documentation to suppliers in support of proposals and programs.
