Position Summary

The incumbent has overall responsibility for the successful operation of all Distribution activities in the Southern division of the Auto Plus Network. The incumbent is responsible for execution to increase growth and profitability and to ensure that we have the most effective distribution network to improve fill rate accuracy, customer service and profitability.

This position may reside anywhere in the US as long as willing to travel to the Southeast each week.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement key business strategies for the distribution organization.

  • Provide leadership to the Distribution Operations General Managers and staff to implement strategies and ongoing management for their organizations.

  • Provide strategic leadership input for the Supply Chain function to ensure transformational strategies are executed across the enterprise. Ensure company-wide use of best practice through the integration of technology and IT systems that affect value, reliability, quality and cost of service.

  • Provide strategic direction and overall management for Network Optimization.

  • Act as Senior Advisor to VP of Distribution in all supply chain activities

  • Actively engage all sales channel directors to ensure active conduit for transformation and change management.

  • Be an effective Lean Sponsor within the organization to ensure that Distribution teams are focused on Engagement (Culture), Compliance and Improvement

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor degree in business or related field required.

  • Master degree in business preferred.

  • 7 -- 10 years of experience in multi-unit retail distribution operations, design, implementation with large headcounts (>200) required.

  • 10+ years of experience in change management and labor planning and standards.

  • Lean Six Sigma certification - Green Belt preferred.

  • Ability/willingness to travel 70 -- 75% (Tuesday -- Friday each week) required.

  • Must possess excellent management skills.

  • Must possess leadership skills.

  • Must be customer driven and have a strong business sense.

  • Must have analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Must utilize a coaching style that fosters teamwork.

In this role you will supervise and oversight duties associated with ensuring that the staff effectively manages their assigned Product Categories, Suppliers, Commodities and Projects meeting Yamaha's Time to Market, Cost, Fill Rate, MOS, Inventory Level and Supplier Performance Objectives. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: Analytics, System and Inventory Maintenance and Reporting: * Ensure system maintenance is completed in a timely manner, including part set-up, BOM creation and maintenance, supplier settings, and inventory settings. * Conduct Inventory analytics including; * BO Analysis, Fill-Rate and MOS metrics * ABC analysis * Price analysis and system maintenance * Standard cost development and review * Cost reporting for management review * Lead monthly Excess/Obsolescence process – develop data, manage input and prep for management review. * Assist in the development of monthly reports, create and develop additional reporting as required, ensuring the quality of the information being reported is timely, complete and accurate. Fiscal Responsibility & Risk Management: * Assist in the development of the annual budget and Mid-Term Plan. Manage the budget and track the expenses versus budget and validate the variances. * Coordination and Project Management of the Cost Reduction Initiatives related to procurement. * Support the organization's environmental initiatives as required. * Participate in Supplier Pre-Assessments, Development and Evaluation Process (as required). Coordinate with QA and other related departments as required. Monitor supplier's capabilities, capacity and performance. Process D & B reports as required. Supplier Development and Relationship Management: * Assist Buyers with supplier related activities (i.e., Receiving Problem Discrepancies, Invoicing discrepancies, etc.), with the DC's and/or designated packager to facilitate prompt receipt of inventory. * Ensure vendor/supplier conformance to YPAD policy and procedures to eliminate any supply interruption. * Administer and manage Supplier Contracts/Master Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements and any special agreements required to facilitate the commercial relationships. * Manage, monitor and track supplier performance based on CQD objectives and ensure that suppliers meet the required standards and targets. Provide supplier evaluation comments, as necessary. Critical Back Orders and Low Stock Management: * Lead the department's efforts in ensuring that all avenues and solutions are explored to expedite and resolve critical back order issues. Ensure that the most current recovery and delivery dates are reported, and the system is updated accordingly. Ensure quantities being expedited include both current and future order requirements. Ensure that the system is updated with the most current and up to date delivery dates for all past parts and accessories Team Development: * Delegate tasks and projects to develop staff's project management skills and provide growth or training opportunities. Ensure that the staff is provided with the necessary tools for continued growth and development. * Provide a positive and effective work atmosphere that fosters open communication, in addition to making certain that the staff perform in a professional manner in conduct, appearance, communication and interaction both internally and with external contacts. * Lead quarterly and/or annual review of direct reports. Requirements: * BS/BA in quantitative discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
