SUPPLY CHAIN OPERATIONS INTERNSHIP SUMMER 2019

Hy-Vee, Inc. is a progressive company focused on retail. To support retail we must continuously review our supply chain practices to ensure we are operating as efficiently as possible while maintaining excellent customer service to our stores and ultimately our customers. We have openings for interns to assist Hy-Vee Inc. in the logistics and warehouse operations. The positions will be located within our two distribution centers in Chariton and Cherokee, Iowa as well as our subsidiaries: Perishable Distributors of Iowa located in Ankeny, Iowa; Florist Distributing, Inc. located in Des Moines, Iowa; D&D Foods, Inc. located in Omaha, Nebraska. The timeframe is approximately May 13, 2019 to August 9, 2019. This Monday through Friday opportunity will be 40 hours per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Successful candidates will work with management and company employees to learn daily processes within Hy-Vee's supply chain.

  • Such processes include: releasing and managing store orders within the warehouses to ship product on-time to stores, aligning Hy-Vee drivers for store deliveries and hiring trucking companies to deliver inbound product to the warehouses.

  • Responsibilities will be similar to what is expected of an entry-level supply chain professional.

  • The internship will include learning daily processes needed to successfully service customers with the expectation of contributing new ideas in the form of a final presentation or paper at the conclusion of the internship.

The Successful Candidate will have:

  • Strong academic candidate

  • Experience with team leadership and teamwork, especially outside the classroom

  • Skilled in the following applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

  • Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and written

  • Experience with problem solving and organization

  • Ability to be successful in a fast-paced environment

  • Relationship-building skills

Minimum Education/Experience Required to Perform Job:

Qualifications include working toward, or recently acquired, a degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Economics, Industrial Engineering, etc.
