We are hiring a Supply Chain Manager for our food manufacturing facilities in the Houston, TX area. This position is responsible for managing the flow of inbound raw materials and outbound finished goods through the production facility to include: distribution, transportation, order fulfillment, and labor planning and productivity.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and monitor forecasts to identify changes or to determine their effect on inbound materials and outbound finished goods.

  • Manage and coordinate the material planning, inventory control, storage, shipping, and receiving functions.

  • Define performance metrics for measurement comparison or evaluation of supply chain factors such as product cost or quality.

  • Direct inbound and outbound shipments of raw materials and supplies.

  • Analyze raw material and finished goods inventories to determine how to improve production efficiency, increase inventory turns, reduce waste, or optimize customer service.

  • Coordinate with other corporate and plant-based departments to ensure efficient distribution and flow of materials to satisfy customer demand.

  • Responsible for the overall direction of work coordination and evaluation of the materials management and labor scheduling staff members.

  • Responsible for managing employees including skills development, safety, housekeeping, policy administration, discipline, performance evaluation, employee relations, cost control, and problem solving.

  • Adjust daily work schedule as needed to meet production requirements.

  • Ensures regulatory compliance to federal, state, and local agencies (DOT, OSHA, EPA, etc.) by monitoring operational performance locally and ensuring corrective action plans are followed that will prevent legal exposure.

  • Leads development of site level supply chain operating objectives planning and reviewing attainment to goals, analyzing and reviewing transportation, distribution, and 3rd party performance, and monitoring adherence to operating plans.

  • Establishes and initiates improvement programs for all six business objectives including: processes, improved methods, capital investments, and changes to the practices that will improve safety, quality, growth, cost (productivity and controllable costs), service and culture, and efficiently integrate the flow of shipments into and out of the site.

  • Maintains capital spending budget consistent with the goals and expectations of the business.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent Years of Related

Experience: 5-7 years of related experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to inspire teams and lead necessary improvements to the business.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the transportation and distribution industry.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and manage a diverse workforce across multiple shifts.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to employees all levels of management Business Units, suppliers, and vendors.

  • Basic understanding of accounting and budgeting processes.

  • Solid experience with computer systems, supporting order processing, customer service, etc.

  • Solid PC skills including Microsoft Excel Word PowerPoint Outlook etc.

  • Warehouse Education & Research Council and APICs memberships helpful.

This leader will be responsible for all location business matters and network collaboration. Their accountabilities include key performance areas: * Operational focus on revenue per truck and total miles, reducing empty miles, and working tractor plan * Oversee driver recruitment, retention, and development * Safety focus every day in all areas of the terminal and on the road * Drive customer satisfaction and growth, providing outstanding service, leveraging existing customers and adding new customers * Leads their designated terminal while effectively collaborating within the Action Resources network * Creating and maintaining a great culture of success and team development The terminal manager will be responsible to meet and exceed their terminal Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Operations, Retention, Safety & Compliance, Customer Service, Financials and annual goals and objectives DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Manage P&L, identify and develop tactical actions to correct and implement * Ensures maximum driver and asset utilization with the focus on revenue per truck, load counts, and maximizing the P & L * Leads terminal performance; forecasts, monitors and executes daily performance plan. Takes corrective action to meet terminal/network goals and objectives * Represent the terminal on initiatives, serves as the liaison for company drivers, owner operators and terminal associates * Manage work flow throughout the terminal * Coordinate maintenance for a fleet of tractors, trailers and specialized equipment * Analyze data, create, prepare and distribute reports and information * Promotes and develops safe work behaviors through effective communication, implementation and follow-up of the company's safety programs and objectives * Responsible for terminal drivers safety performance including implementation of safety initiatives and attendance of safety classes * Collaborate and support the sales team in managing existing, targeting and supporting new business opportunities * Integrate transportation services seamlessly into our customer's supply chain * Successfully manage daily customer and client relationships at all levels resolving customer issues and service opportunities effectively * Collaborate with Recruiting and Safety ensuring the hiring of quality driver associates * Effectively onboard drivers and associates to terminal processes * Approve all invoices for payment and oversee purchasing of supplies and office services * Develop and mentor staff through performance evaluation and effective coaching * Responsible for fostering a positive culture * Additional duties as assigned BUSINESS AND LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES * Strong business acumen including effectively managing a P &L, developing business strategies * Excellent customer facing and service skills * Excellent communication skills (oral, written and presentation) * Excellent organizational and time management skills * Excellent development and coaching ability EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: * Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in the transportation field * 5+ years of Transportation Operations experience required * Previous Tank Trailer and Hazardous Waste Transportation experience preferred * 2+ years of Fleet Management-leadership of drivers required * Demonstrated team-leadership and development * Transportation Management Software (ie: TMW, McLeod) * Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations and procedures * Experience with satellite communications processes (Qualcomm) desired * Ability to travel as necessary * Driver's license required Action Resources Pasadena TX
