What You Will Be Doing

  • Work directly with Demand Planning team on forecast concerns and question to improve supply targets based on market demand changes and trends

  • Work directly with Contract Manufacturing and Suppliers to ensure supply targets are maintained

  • Actively participate with Contract Manufacturing, NPI and Project Managers towards new product development and transition

  • Proactively facilitate and recommended re-engineering, best practices & consensus between functional areas (Supply Chain, Sales/Marketing, Operations, Finance and IT).

  • Strong understanding of Supply planning, forecasting techniques, and operational systems

  • Supports operations with supply chain related issues and communicates changes in advance

  • Works with the IT Department in researching NetSuite MRP, Planning Tool issues

  • Review, develop, and update process documentation to reflect new and changed processes

  • Manage performance expectations with Contract Manufacturing, suppliers

  • Lead daily operations meeting with Contract Manufacturing to coordinate supply chain execution activities

  • Develop Contract Manufacturing, Supplier relationships and help resolve any issues on a global level

  • Good knowledge of Sales Orders, Purchase Orders Process

  • Proactively resolves issues to help drive long term resolution for various Operational inefficiencies within the Supply Chain

  • Supply Chain Planning Tool Super User

What You Bring To The Team

  • A good team player to bring change to the complex organization

  • Experience with Contract Manufacturing planning, experiences with supply chain functionality and good understanding of Demand Supply for fast pace enterprise storage product line

  • Strong Analytical capability in identifying demand & Supply trends, seasonality impact and promotional impact

  • Good knowledge with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and good experience using ERP, Planning tools

  • Well-developed analytical and problem solving skills

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively within all levels of the organization

  • BA/BS Degree or its equivalent in relevant area Supply Chain/Manufacturing Operations, Business, Economics, Engineering, etc

  • Must be willing and able to work in an open office, team environment.

You use your wide industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships to optimize our total cost of ownership for our global -- and growing -- infrastructure. The scale at which Google operates means that savings on just one piece of hardware can have a huge impact on Google's bottom line. The Global Sourcing and Supply Chain Manager for Consumer Hardware will serve as the primary contact for internal teams and external partners/suppliers for sourcing and procurement. You will build consensus with both internal and external stakeholders and will be the main contact for negotiations and supplier management. Additionally, you will lead and support the development, implementation and management of global strategies to provide Google’s Consumer Hardware Organization with optimal pricing, flexibility, quality, and supply assurance. Working closely with Product Management, HW & SW Engineering, Industrial Design, Quality Engineering and Operations Teams, you will be the commercial owner with a focus on contracts and pricing, and on maintaining long-term strategic supplier relationships. Whether finding new ways to capture and sense the world around us, advancing form factors, or improving interaction methods, our Consumer Hardware team is making people's lives better through technology. ## Responsibilities * Develop and execute strategies for Consumer Hardware; identify and implement new opportunities for Cost Savings and Cost Avoidance including optimizing the supply base for Google’s Consumer Hardware needs. * Develop deep understanding of cost competing technologies, process and products to guide and influence product development and decisions; Create and/or optimize cost models for evaluating modules, components, new processes. * Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities and risks related to product design and business plans. * Develop global sourcing strategies with defined plans for cost savings, risk assessment and mitigation, and supply planning agreements. * Address all areas of global sourcing and supply chain management including commodity business plans, supplier performance management, global market, building up a strong supply base that’s the right fit for Google, pricing analysis, contract agreements and procurement support. ## Qualifications Minimum qualifications: * BA/BS or equivalent in technical or business related field, or equivalent practical experience. * 6 years of relevant experience or 4 years of Commodity Management, Strategic Sourcing or Supply Chain Management experience with focus in consumer hardware. * Experience with cost models, cost trends, and product development. * Ability to travel 10% of the time.
