Overview
The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for the overall management of supply chain and logistics operations to maximize efficiency and minimize cost.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversees the sourcing and procurement of equipment, tools, raw material, packaging materials, parts, services and/or supplies necessary for operation of an organization.
Manages and monitors vendor's qualification and performance to ensure they meet company requirements.
Collaborates with multiple-functional managers to plan and execute on the development of a distribution center operational process to enable seamless transfers.
Compiles and analyzes statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish objectives.
Ensures discussions with suppliers are maintained and analyzes suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and determine lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability and ability to meet required schedules.
Establishes procurement and logistics policies and procedures, ensuring compliance.
Manages the logistics functions - shipping/receiving and inventory/stockroom. Develops and implements policies and procedures to receive and document incoming materials, prepare material or finished product for storage or shipment within a lean manufacturing environment. Ensures compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt and documentation of imported/exported products. Addresses unacceptable situations with customers as well as problems between shipping and receiving area, inventory and procurement to ensure planned arrival of product.
Manages employees in assigned functional areas in accordance with company policy and state/federal regulations. Follows environmental compliance, safety regulations and OSHA guidelines. Receives annual training in hazardous waste compliance, regulatory information and any related state/federal regulation.
Responsible for strategic sourcing outlook and the management of Sales, Inventory, Operations, Process (SIOP) with cross functional departments.
Responsible for operations within the master scheduling process.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a technical or business-related field is required.
Equivalent training and/or certifications in CPM, Lean Six Sigma, and APICS are preferred.
Experience:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to write and prepare from standard to complicated written materials, reports, correspondence, etc.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to perform basic and more complicated mathematic fundamentals - add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to use PC computers and have command of Microsoft software - Word and Excel, PowerPoint, project management software, and others as needed. Use of company computer systems (with training).
Ability to be confident in presentations and communications with customers and internal personnel.
Ability to effectively negotiate with key stakeholders and vendors.
Regularly works effectively, and relates well, with others including superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside of the company.
