JOB SUMMARY

The Demand Planning Engineer will report directly to the Manager of Demand Planning. The main responsibilities of this position are to partner with Engineering Design, Project and Construction Team to establish short- and long-term Materials and Services demand planning requirements and supply forecasts; track large capital project budget planning process; and work closely with Category Managers to ensure that the optimal category strategies are adopted by business to achieve overall operational excellence.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

  • MBA preferred

Experience:

  • 5 years of demand forecast, supply planning experience

  • 5 years of design and planning engineering experience

  • 3-5 years of project management experience is a plus

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships and develop a collaborative working relationship across the spectrum of leadership levels

  • Ability to develop cross-functional working process

  • Possess advanced analytical skills

  • Proven ability to analyze and consolidate large volumes of data, and to turn data into actionable insights

  • Data extraction and data mining from internal and external systems

  • Keen attention to detail

  • Possess at least intermediate level of skills in Strategy Development, Strategy Execution, Project Management, Relationship Building & Influencing, Communication, Presentation, Team Building, Cultural Awareness, and Change Management

  • Possess skills in Supplier Relationship Management and Facilitation

  • Hands on knowledge of Gas utility operations preferred

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven ability and determination to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines

  • Organizational savvy, ability to influence and inspire others, foster collaboration and partnerships

Travel:

  • 25% travel expected

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with Engineering teams to establish short- and long-term demand forecasting for materials and services

  • Able to influence engineers to reduce design complexity, drive material standardization, and perform value engineering

  • Track large capital projects through entire budgeting process, reflect the changes in demand planning documentations, and communicate effectively the changes to sourcing team and suppliers

  • Perform thorough analysis and data requests to support the demand planning process through meetings with internal customers to understand their business future needs, requirements, and plans; determining the impact of external supply base; analyzing historical demand; and forecasting future demand.

  • Translate business plans into SCM services and materials/equipment demand planning and forecasts

  • Evaluate challenges in meeting demand, identify supply risks and update demand planning and forecast

  • Act as the point of contact for business partners to ensure that the optimal sourcing approach is adopted, and the optimal lower total cost of meeting business requirements is obtained

  • Support SCM Category and Inventory management initiatives and strategies to leverage company expenditures and drive business partners to standardization in materials and service sourcing activities

  • Responsible for working with across stakeholder groups to streamline demand and enforce compliance by introducing One SCM category management approach

  • Work with business partners to develop and manage tools necessary to track demand planning and supply forecasting

  • Accountable for driving joint Total Cost of Ownership process improvement including partnering with strategic Suppliers and creating Alliance Partnerships, thereby delivering the best value and mitigating risks to the organization
