Meraki's Supply Chain Management (SCM) Team is rooted in the functional design and engineering division of the business. SCM is responsible for supplier management, purchasing, planning and shepherding new products into the sustaining business. Team members are expected to work cross-functionally and make data driven recommendations to leaders across Engineering, Sourcing, Operations, Product Management, and Business Ops.

As a Supply Chain Intern you learn about how Meraki products are manufactured and what business factors contribute to and constrain the supply chain from end to end. In addition, the Supply Chain intern will be primary lead on Capstone Project from start to finish. The project will be geared towards internal process improvements related to supply planning, material strategies and new product initiatives. Interns are expected to have the skills to analyze data, recommend solutions and communicate cross functionally with demand, engineering and product management at all levels. Meraki Supply Chain team is comprised of 2 subgroups: Global Supply management & Supply chain management. Interns will be assigned to one of the groups, based on prior experience, interests, and educational background.

Some project details include:

  • Designing and Implementing supply strategies

  • Possible travel to Asia to meet with suppliers and assisting new product initiatives

  • Working cross functionally with Engineering, Sourcing, Ops and product management

  • Self management and project experience in a dynamic supply chain

  • Team building and presentation skills

Intern/Co-Op Program Overview:

Meraki interns and co-ops join the team for 12 and 16 week programs, respectively, and are placed directly onto subteams. During the program, interns/co-ops have the opportunity to work on a small starter project, such as integration and implementation of new tools, before spending the majority of the program on a larger project, such as building the infrastructure for a new service. Projects are cross functional, which allow insight into new languages and technologies, help encourage professional growth within engineering, and allow a sense of ownership within the team.

Meraki's engineering teams place a high emphasis on mentorship. Each intern and co-op is matched 1:1 with a mentor who provides continual feedback and guidance throughout the duration of the program. Mentors help with introductions to other team members, overviews of tools and processes, and provide a seamless integration into Meraki life.

SUCCESS FACTORS (first 12-18 months) * Develop Strategy to Maximize Working Capital: To support our growth strategy and enable maximize our working capital, you will have developed an aligned inventory strategy that delivers consistent service, return on investment for new lines and distribution center capacity. You will have aligned with finance, procurement, logistics and manufacturing on a plan to deliver the right inventory at the right time to reduce write off risk, leverage space and maximize manufacturing efficiencies. * Strategic Capacity Planning: You will have developed a capacity plan for the next 3-5 years that allows for strategic investment in equipment and warehouse utilization that maximizes our logistics expense to drive decision making regarding future capacity investments for manufacturing lines, warehouse locations and co-manufacturing partners. * Optimized Production Planning Process: You will have optimized our production planning process integrated with sales and operations planning software to allow for effective communication and inventory plans with our factory and co-manufacturing partners. By optimizing the process you have reduced our cycle time from buy to make while reducing our inventory and material waste. * Development of Service Strategy: Your mastery of developing aligned inventory plans have been translated into service levels that bring amazing service to our customers.
