Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 3+ years of experience in an operating/line role, change management role or continuous improvement role

  • Supply Chain management, planning, logistics or warehouse experience is highly preferred

  • Experience with IT solutions and IT supported planning methods

  • Experience with web based solutions, mobile application development and integrated business planning, Always On preferred but not required

  • Demonstrated aptitude for analytics

  • Proven record of leadership in a work setting and/or through extracurricular activities

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization

  • Comfort with extensive travel (4-5 days a week)

What You'll Do

You will work in small teams with colleagues and clients to build the strategies, capabilities, systems and processes needed to deliver bottom line results and ensure those results are sustained. You'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful, hands-on contribution by managing projects and progress with minimal supervision, including tracking metrics, handling complex analyses, and preparing communications to report back to client and internal leadership. You will develop trust-based relationships with clients and be seen as a specialist in implementation and delivering results.

The Supply Chain team is focused on driving bottom line impact covering suppliers, production, physical logistics, and customers. We have deep functional expertise to help clients overcome typical supply chain challenges and integrate solutions across the organization, supplementing our client experience through targeted research programs focused on what really drives their supply chain performance.

The Supply Chain Management Excellence Program is a one-year assignment designed to assist recent graduates in making a smooth transition from education into experience. During the first year, associates will learn about supply chain operations while contributing to real business initiatives. Upon completion of the first year, associates have the opportunity to continue their career working in one of PPG's business units or corporate functions. The core processes focus on the following areas: * Working Capital and Inventory Management * Logistics (Freight and Warehouse operations) * Metrics * Portfolio Management * Sales & Operations Planning * Talent and Organizational Management Assessments: Each associate in the Supply Chain Management Excellence Program serves on 1 or 2 Supply Chain Assessment Teams. Each assessment team, which consists of groups of 3 or 4 supply chain professionals leads in conducting the supply chain assessments. Team members travel to the subject facility to engage the business in a discussion of their self-assessment questionnaire results. The assessment team identifies best practices as well as opportunities for improvement during the on-site visit. These findings are shared with the subject business unit and an action plan is put in place for improvement. The following approach is utilized to assess and strengthen PPG's Global Supply Chain: * Educate and develop supply chain professionals * Identify specific ways to improve core supply chain processes * Share internal and external best practices for core processes Project work: Associate collaborates with supply chain leaders to support core process related projects. Potential projects include: * Acquisition management * Cost reduction measures * Distribution network optimization * Service level attainment * Working capital improvement IT Support: Associate collaborates with Supply Chain and Information Technology professionals to support IT related projects. Potential projects include: * Data management * Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation * New technology testing * Technology tool add-ons Embedded Strategic Business Unit Deployment: Associate collaborates with colleagues across businesses to contribute towards local operational initiatives. This provides the associate with invaluable "hands on" experience in business operations. Possible assignments include: * Finished goods scheduling * Raw materials procurement * Transit scheduling Upon successful completion of the Supply Chain Management Excellence Program, individuals will be considered for placement into a business unit. Qualifications: * MS/MBA/BS Degree from an accredited four year college or university. * Major and/ or concentration in Transportation/ Logistics, Supply Chain, or other related fields. * Geographic flexibility; open to domestic and/or international relocation. * 3.0 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale. * Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. * Demonstrated teamwork skills with the ability to work in a team oriented environment. * Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and other data analysis tools. * Authorized to work in the U.S. * Prior PPG intern experience is preferred.
