Supply Chain Engineer

Dish Care Division

New Bern, NC / Full-time

The Supply Chain Engineer supports the warehouse management team and is responsible for identifying, developing and optimizing processes and procedure within the Supply Chain & warehouse area. The Engineer supports the evaluation of worker performance and ensure that work equipment is available and that safety, quality and production goals and standards are met. The engineer needs to work closely together with factory management and the other Engineers to help define and sustain improvements aligned with the factory strategy. The Supply Chain Engineer helps sustain warehouse functions related to receiving, shipping, material handling, inventory control and customer service processes. The Supply Chain Engineer also helps to manage and develop optimal warehouse processes to support uninterrupted, productive manufacturing.

Responsibilities

Safety

  • Safety first supports a safe work place, takes action to improve the safety of the factory.

  • Safely operates tools and follows all rules regarding Personal Protective Equipment.

  • Places the safety of the team members in high esteem and educates them on safety tips and procedures to adhere to during the manufacturing process

  • Initiates safety talks / discussions

  • Conduct Start-Of Shift inspections of Mobile Equipment prior to shift

  • Report any unsafe condition found during the Start of Shift inspection to your supervisor immediately

  • Report any property damage, near miss/incident involving or caused by use of Powered Industrial Trucks immediately to supervisor

  • Conduct inspections of required PPE prior to use i.e. Fall Protection

  • Actively participates with 8D reports and root cause analysis when applicable

Quality

  • Quality assurance shows a commitment to quality & takes actions to ensure the quality of the parts and end product.

  • Defines and sustains the standards of operation

  • Actively carries out process confirmations per the guidelines & policies

  • Promotes and educates the warehouse staff on the B/S/H/ 14 Quality Principles

Leadership

  • Leads, supervises and manages the assigned Project team accordingly.

  • Manage assigned warehouse function according to the SOP.

  • Ensure warehouse security, cleanliness and safety standards are adhered to

  • Ensures team meets unit quality and productivity metrics.

  • Oversees daily operations

  • Supports Warehouse Management's team and employee evaluations

  • Fosters an atmosphere of trust and integrity

  • Inform workers of management conditions of work, rules and regulations guiding the establishment to ensure that they adhere to company policies, and take disciplinary measures against workers who are found wanting.

  • Constantly inspect all work equipment to identify shortages and damages, and relate findings to management for quick resolution to enable smooth flow of operations.

Work Knowledge

  • Supports optimal warehouse processes

  • Establish operational procedures for verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current

  • Support processes within receiving, shipping, handling, distribution and storage, including all freight, product and supplies that come in and out of warehouse

  • Ensure that stock inventory is carried out in a timely manner and that it is in line with the stock balance to avoid mix up.

  • Supports Cycle & Inventory Counting/ Controlling Processes & improvements

  • Supports Customer Service Processes & improvements

  • Awareness of productivity goals and understands / executes what is necessary to achieve the targeted results.

  • Initiates problem solving when necessary (5-why, A3, Red-X, 8D, etc.) Escalation of problems impacting productivity that may be outside their direct control.

Equipment

  • Operates industrial lift truck, electrical and manual pallet jacks and other forms of materials handling equipment on the factory floor, inside various vehicles and at the loading/shipping dock.

  • Supports & Facilitates mgmt. of autonomous TPM task (includes monitoring F-tags and updating PM task board), as well as process improvement s in the area.

  • Very Proficient computer skills - Excel (including data analysis / charts) & Key User for SAP WM

System & Warehouse Processes

  • Investigates problems, finds root causes, and develops solutions.

  • Monitor ECO changes, identify and coordinate use-up of inventory.

  • Implement Material Flow Changes

  • Optimize storage locations, setup of system and physical locations.

  • Assist in identifying obsolete parts and having them removed from inventory.

  • Audit cycle count results for errors and identification of root cause.

  • Review existing BOM's

  • Maintaining WM Material Master Data.

  • Support in process reviews and implementation of new processes.

  • SAP Warehouse Key User & SAP Cut over support, SAP as related to internal logistics.

  • Project & Standard Implementation Coordinator

  • Process and document approvals and transactions related to obsolete parts, internal damage and external damage scrap and NOCO's.

  • Optimization of all intra logistics processes, from packaging, incoming materials, intra material flow to outbound finished goods.

  • Support production operations & warehouse operations

  • Project management/ leader (cross functional/ departmental)

  • Manage Inventory optimization and cost saving measure

  • Warehouse & material layout, material handling systems,

  • Supports & Improves documentation of the processes related to transportation damages, including claims.

  • Warehouse machines and charging/battery/power solutions

  • Manage & Drive Changes in Packaging Directives, internal handling optimization

  • Material handling safety and ergonomics in accordance with OSHA standards

  • Documentation KPI's, Tracking, ISO & work instructions

  • Develops procedures and coordinate training for warehouse personnel and production personnel associated with material handling and maintains them in accordance with ISO/Training Matrixes.

  • Performs computer simulations of logistic problems.

  • Responsible for scanning, barcode and wireless technologies within warehouse.

  • Streamlines processes with improved integration with SAP.

  • Approves or issues specifications for packaging from vendors, internal and external.

  • Maximizes efficiency by analyzing processes and improving them.

  • Determines the correct methods of material handling. Writes specifications and purchases material handling equipment.

  • Manage projects in the areas of new product introduction, equipment selection and installation.

  • Works with other industrial engineers to determine lot size and KANBAN bin sizes.

  • Acts as participant, facilitator or leader of cross-functional teams.

  • General reporting of Key Figures for Warehouse.

  • Assist in preparation for annual budgets as well as review of annual budgets in accordance to business plan

Organization

  • Communicates clearly & interacts with other departments

  • Continuous training of Warehouse associates in the proper and accurate use of the SAP warehouse functions and transactions.

  • Supports Record keeping - maintain files of received material, shipping slips by date, scrap tickets, Inventory adjustment tickets, and transportation damage claims.

  • Supports Team board reporting.

  • Works Independent manage area of responsibility with no or little supervision

  • 5S manages the 5S target organization consistently

  • Maintains 5S standards in his/her are per the BSH Production System guidelines

  • Actively involves associates in 5S activities; performs 5S process confirmations

  • Documents standards 5S, Processes, housekeeping of warehouse and surrounding area, etc.

Your Profile

  • University Degree/Bachelor of Science in Engineering from accredited 4-year college.

  • Mathematical knowledge.

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Ability to work without constant supervision and the ability to think and act independently.

  • Ability to use packaged software on PC based computer system (data entry).

  • Ability to follow safety procedures & regulations

  • Ability to safely operate various kinds of material handling equipment, including automated machines and sensors

  • Ability to apply appropriate safety procedures & equipment to protect company and customer assets, including personal protective equipment (e.g. safety glasses)
