SUPPLY CHAIN BUYER I
These are exciting times at BioControl as we continue integration efforts due to our acquisition early last year! We are now part of the MilliporeSigma BioMonitoring business of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany.
As we continue to combine our products with the established portfolio, we have need of an additional Supply Chain Buyer. This position will purchase materials, equipment, software, printed items and supplies from approved suppliers. Place and expedite purchase orders, resolve supply issues, Manage NCM's and inventory by obtaining Return Material Authorizations.
Maintain inventory strategies based on cost and dating while preventing back orders. To succeed in this position, along with a strong Supply Chain Management background, you need to have strong organizational and time management skills to exhibit within a fast and demanding work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Review Buy messages by looking at action messages in ERP. Analyze need by reviewing dates, quantities, lead times, lot sizes and expiration dates
Creates single line and blanket PO's. Send PO to suppliers, obtains order confirmation, updates Prom Date (delivery date), and places supplier confirmation in order notes on PO.
Maintain Vendor data in ERP; Vendor Supply Item file with vendor ID, vendor item number, supplier description, and case/pack information. Maintains Purchase Order Contract module. Ensure cost standard is consistent with contract pricing on Purchase Order.
Obtains Returned Material Authorization (RMA) from suppliers when NCM is created. Manages NCM status and inventory as a result of the NCM. Completes NCM process by obtaining return, replacement or credit.
Recommends new sources of supply to improve cost, maintain costs, or ensure supply.
Assists with reconciling semi-complex to complex inventory discrepancies by checking past transactions, verifying bills of material, units of measure, quantity per, looking at processed batch records, and verifying findings or facts.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing semi-complex to complex tasks and department projects as required. Maintains flexibility by changing priorities as directed which may include working overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
Minimum High School/GED. ISM or APICS certification desired.
2 to 4 years purchasing experience in manufacturing or related field. 2 to 4 years' experience using ERP/MRP system. Biotech industry desired, MS Office Suite.
Must be flexible to changing schedules and priorities. Strong attention to detail and self-direction.
Medium temperament; gets along well with others. Self-starter that can work in team environment. Can receive direction, coaching, and constructive criticism.
Makes decisions on work within scope of responsibility and experience; anticipates and prevents inventory irregularities; responds appropriately within experience. Thinks pro-actively and locally.
Ability to lift and move 40 pounds. Ability to balance, see, crouch, grasp, pull, and walk.
Exposures: Airborne particles, noise, caustics, odors, chemicals, moving parts, toxics/flammables, and muscular strain.
