Material Estimating Analyst - Supply Chain IV

Overall summary

Lead and develop complex analyses for the group relative to their field of expertise: commodity, purchasing, proposal costing.

Analyst IV should require minimal supervision and direction and be comfortable in a fast paced environment with strict deadlines. Must be capable of participating and presenting data in executive level meetings. Material Analysts are measured on three criteria's of job duties: On-Time Deliver, Quality/Accuracy and Compliance with DRS applicable Procedures and DFAR/FAR requirements. Analyst will be responsible for team's day to day operation, overseeing work assignments and presenting weekly status on all active proposals.

Primary & Essential Accountabilities

  • Lead the Material Estimating team, monitor and audit.

  • Develop complex analyses for the specific area of expertise

  • Understand business forecasts and pinpoint any areas of vulnerability of company requirements, making recommendations on how to proactively reduce risk

  • Lead procurement kick-off meetings with the procurement team defining the scope of the award and expectations on order placement

  • Evaluate the contract flow downs from the Contracts department and ensure the appropriate flow-downs are identified and passed on to Purchasing

  • Interact with Program Management on Program Cost issues and required details.

  • Measure Target Costs against Proposal Costs and work with Supply Chain Management on methods to meet targets

  • Review open requisitions weekly and meet with appropriate Supply Chain Manager on the progress of order placement

  • Review placement to requisition need date and length of time in purchasing

  • Advise planning, engineering and drafting of item master errors, updates, or omissions in relation to mil-specs or new or obsolete items

  • Advise planning, engineering and contracts of changes in prices or lead times that make and produce cost-prohibitive or lead times detrimental to production cycles

  • Attend weekly Program meetings and identify any "potential" issues that can be addressed early on

  • Expedite critical components to ensure on-time deliveries. Be prepared to address any current or potential parts issues

  • Look for creative ways to improve purchasing ability to make contributions to the company's goals

  • Improve understanding of purchasing relationship to the over-all company plans and strategy

  • Support, communicate and defend the mission, values and culture of the company

Years' Experience
8+ years

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, engineering or equivalent experience

  • A minimum of 8 years of demonstrated experience in high technology, aerospace or defense or equivalent experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of supply chain management tools and procedures

  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills, particularly "influence management" and "conflict resolution"

  • Experience in evaluating Drawing packages and compiling Request for Quotes from Vendors.

  • Knowledge of FAR requirements as they pertain to Material Estimating

  • Ability to forecast future cost based on analysis of cost data

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills

  • Must have a successful track record in managing complex aerospace/defense supply chain activities

  • Strong Excel skills (nested formulas, Index, Match, Sumifs, Pivot tables) and data Analysis skills.

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
