Job Summary

The Supply Chain Account Manager is responsible for identifying and pursuing opportunities with both new and existing customers to sell supply chain transportation services integrating both rail and intermodal. The incumbent understands the transportation and logistics industry and asks customers the right questions in order to meet their transportation needs. The role aligns customer needs with CN's and its partners service delivery capabilities.

Main Responsibilities

Sales and Growth Strategy Management

  • Anticipate customer needs by staying informed of industry trends

  • Manage all commercial aspects of key customers in the US portfolio

  • Develop account growth strategies for customers and maintain existing relationships

  • Deliver yearly revenue and price targets as set out by CN

  • Collaborate with operations personnel to identify available capacity for opportunistic selling to improve overall yield and asset utilization

  • Cross-sell CN's transportation services suite

  • Proactively address any potential service issues with operations personnel

  • Develop a reliable monthly revenue and volume forecast

  • Develop and implement a strategic territory plan

Working Conditions

The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and manage stress. The role requires frequent travel (60%) in North America for customer site inspections and for customer visits.

Requirements

Experience

Sales and Marketing

  • Minimum 3 years of sales or marketing experience in transportation and logistics services

Education/Certification/Designation

  • Bachelor's in Commerce, Marketing, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent

  • Master's Degree in Commerce, Marketing, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent*

  • Any designation for these above would be considered as an asset

Key responsibilities include:  <ul> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Functioning as a decision support consultant for our clients while managing projects to completion.</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Designing and shaping sourcing strategies with senior management.</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Leading teams of analyst to assist with sourcing strategy execution, ensuring that set objectives are achieved. <ul> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Developing RFPs and executing a strategic sourcing strategy (go to bid, analyze responses, negotiate, etc.).</li> </ul> </li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Conducting client and supplier interviews (electronically, over the phone, or face to face), documenting quantitative and qualitative customer requirements.</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Collaborate and play a role with Engineering, Quality teams, and suppliers to participate in PPV and VAVE projects.</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Interface and communicate with project team, management, and stakeholders, and provide support with respect to Supplier Management/Procurement processes and policies.</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Creating financial analysis in Excel to review prior costs and to help select the optimal solution of new vendor pricing in terms of total cost of ownership.</li> <li style="padding: 0;
