The Quality Specialist, Raw Material will be responsible to review all CAN and US seafood raw material FSQA documentation against each purchase order, assign the proper inspection plan to the material and coordinate and execute Incoming raw material inspection activities. This person will be an active agent on Food Safety, and Quality cultural change and an advocate for the protection of High Liner Foods, our customers and our consumers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities (This list is not intended to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned):
Review Incoming raw material documentation for US and CN import to verify that the information requested is correct and meets HLF's requirements
Track raw material documentation non conformance
Provide structured feedback to Manager, Global Supplier Quality on raw material documentation non-conformance to ensure timely closure and resolution.
Mark sampling plan
Coordinates, leads and participates in the execution of the seafood daily inspection (physical and sensory) and analysis of the results in coordination with the Quality Technician, Raw Material Inspection
Establishes, updates, and maintains inspection records.
Identify and secure any non-conforming raw materials - Manages holds associated to FSQA documentation processing and associated to inspection processing in coordination with the Quality Specialist, Raw Material Inspection.
Provide structured feedback to Manager, Global Supplier Quality on raw material inspection results to ensure timely closure and resolution.
Leads the implementation and maintenance of good laboratory practices.
Support sensory training and onboarding of new quality technicians.

Qualifications
All qualifications must comply with state/provincial human rights legislation.
Qualifications include:
Bachelor Degree (Food Science or technical degree preferred but not required)
3-5 years of experience working in a quality/food safety role within food industry
HACCP/GFSI experience
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to manage and resolve conflict in a positive way
Good organizational and record keeping skills
Strong analytical problem solving skills, results driven
Passionate, self-starter with realistic and practical approach to Food Safety execution; strong commitment to High Liner Quality.
Microsoft Office Suite, ERP/JD Edwards
National Fisheries Institute training a plus
