The primary function of the Supplier Quality Engineering Supervisor is to lead the Supplier Quality Team to assess, develop, and continuously improve the quality of product that suppliers provide to the BW Water Valley plant. The primary focus is on supplier APQP activity for new product launch components in compliance with APQP procedures resulting in an approved PPAP. Non-compliance of parts that don't conform to PPAP requirement at any time will be managed through the supplier corrective action process. A secondary focus is on continuous improvement of mass production supplier activity. The Supplier Quality Engineering Supervisor is to identify, plan, and implement supplier continuous improvement activities and to lead the Supplier Quality Team to determine disposition of supplier PPAP submissions and train suppliers to client expectations/requirements.
Develop the assessments and scorecard used for supplier APQP visits and continuous improvement visits (includes process control plan and PFMEA reviews with a particular focus on high impact characteristics)
Assist in identifying "high impact" suppliers
Serve as a roadblock remover to ensure APQP target dates are successfully met
Drive supplier incident reduction to the BW Water Valley plant
Proactively work with suppliers to minimize and/or eliminate Launch and APQP issues
Supplier PPAP Submissions
Review and make disposition on Supplier PPAP submissions and validation data
Assure PPAP timing remains on time and meets launch timing objectives
Update/communicate PPAP timing to Launch Team members
Responsible for ensuring all PPAP requirements are met and documentation is up to date and on file for components
Supplier Corrective Action
Confirm analysis of supplier responsible defects in collaboration with cross functional team
Manage supplier to provide effective containment action for any issue
Verify root causes identified by suppliers are well defined
Insure that appropriate corrective actions are defined and implemented
Manage reporting of status of open supplier corrective actions at all levels
Provide data for any actions required for further analysis by CFT or customers
Supplier Continuous Improvement
Initiate, track, and report suppliers' continuous improvement activities
Work closely with suppliers to improve suppliers' processes with the focus on world class quality; proactively identifying and removing risk to product quality, eliminating waste, and driving non-value added cost out of the suppliers' system
Employ continuous improvement methodologies to drive quality risk, waste, and cost out of the Supply Chain
Supplier Quality Training
Lead the Supplier Quality Team to conduct Supplier Quality Training at suppliers' facilities to meet client's and/or customer's specific quality expectations/requirements
Lead the Supplier Quality Team to host Supplier Quality Training sessions at client's manufacturing facilities
Lead the Supplier Quality Team to conduct Supplier Audits (QMS , APQP, Continuous Improvement, implemented corrective actions plans, key characteristics walk, SPC review, etc.)
Supplier Significant and Pass Through Characteristics Activity
Coordinate characteristic identification via cross-functional team approach and ensure supplier conformance to requirements. This include customer interface features and high impact features through use of standardized process
Responsible for ensuring all supplier data is available as needed to meet client/customer requirements
EDUCATION, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
BS/BA degree in business or engineering (engineering preferred).
Advanced verbal/written communication, human relations and organizational skills.
Advanced computer skills.
Advanced problem solving skills
Five years manufacturing experience required. Experience in the automotive industry or in a global manufacturing company preferred.
Five years experience in manufacturing processes, systems and tools:
Statistical Methods (Six Sigma Black Belt preferred)
FMEA, APQP, PPAP, MSA, Process Flow, Corrective Action Process, etc.
Problem Solving Methodologies (5-Why, 8D, etc.)
Automotive Warranty Systems
Learning on the Fly
Dealing with Ambiguity
Timely Decision Making
