Your responsibilities

Position Summary:
Develop and manage processes and systems aimed towards supply chain quality (Volkswagen, thyssenkrupp, and suppliers), continuous improvement, safety, process optimization, and environmental responsibility.Responsibility / Activity:

  • Lead efforts to develop suppliers and continuously evaluate & improve supplier quality performance

  • Manage module & component approval processes in BeON, including IMDS submissions

  • Work with the customer, thyssenkrupp colleagues, and suppliers to manage planned changes and react to problems

  • Manage the supplier problem report process, track issues, review responses, and escalate as needed

  • Oversee the receiving inspection process including technicians, sorting companies, quarantine, etc.

  • Give technical direction to production, quality technicians, maintenance, & individual team members

  • Approve supplier component packaging and release authority for supplier quality requirements

  • Disposition of suspect/non-conforming material and quarantine authority

  • Operate appropriately within respective areas of the Quality Program

  • Additional responsibilities and activities may be added on a need basis, as assigned by management

Your profile


  • Minimum education requirement: Bachelor's degree preferred or Associates degree with relevant experience

  • Preferred education requirement: Mechanical or Industrial Engineering degree

  • Technical and administrative skills: Knowledge of a wide variety of manufacturing processes

  • High knowledge in Quality Systems (ISO/TS 16949, ISO 14000, OHSAS 18000, VW FORMEL-Q)

  • Ability to analyze problems with data, make a decision based on risk, and present the logic to others

  • Experience/tact in dealing directly with the external parties, potentially in high pressure situations

  • Six Sigma knowledge and previous experience in a "just in sequence" operation (preferred)

  • Previous experience working in automotive supplier quality would be ideal


  • 2 to 4 years of experience in the same job position or similar labor activities.

  • Needs experience in production environments (preferably automotive) with semi-automated assembly.

Additional key activities include collaboration with Engineering design teams in development of new products, PPAP approvals and supplier selection input, and initiating external supplier quality improvement using techniques such as Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing to achieve defect-free dock to line parts. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE: * Drive timely resolution and cost recovery efforts related to sub-standard quality purchased components and/or sub assemblies. * Lead efforts to initiate and finalize root cause analysis and corrective actions (i.e. 8Ds, 5Ys, A3s, etc.) with ESG's supply base when issues occur in the plant or field. * Conduct supplier audits ensuring appropriate process and QA controls are in place to allow for dock to line defect free product while ensuring OTD performance. * Compile and analyze supplier claim information. Use data to drive focused product quality improvement activities with suppliers. * Actively participate with Engineering design teams in new product release and or product improvement activities. * Establish and maintain APQP process that links ESG's internal developmental activities with those of the supply chain. * Work with suppliers to develop and approve PPAPs for new parts and assist in successfully launching new products. * Use knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean techniques to train suppliers to drive process improvement throughout their plants and the whole supply chain. * Develop process to align subcontractors with ESG's realization processes. * Prepares and issues all necessary reports and/or correspondence. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, Visio, Project, and Minitab (14B or higher), or QI Macros. * Perform other duties as assigned.
