Primary Objective:

Responsible to identify and develop technical solutions as they relate to supplier quality. The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will drive improvements in MTS inbound material and support any needed escalation with respect to supplier quality issues. Working with MTS suppliers, the SQE will ensure that suppliers respect our procedures.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Defines quality metrics for key processes. Develops the measurement techniques, tracks data, and drives appropriate action based upon resulting performance. Establishes a roadmap for process improvements and leads quality improvement projects. Work with the supplier directly, create corrective action plans to address process failures and lead initiatives with strong project management skills.

  • Lead Supplier manufacturing continuous improvement projects by collaborating with suppliers on process improvement and value enhancement opportunities by partnering with them to implement best practices and drive continuous improvement.

  • Represent MTS in the support of customer and/or regulatory audits. Drives closure coordination of reported non-conformities and address risk assessment through the supply chain. Provide assurance plans that our customers value and provide them with a sense of confidence in our ability to deliver high quality product on time.

  • Lead the supplier approval process by assessing manufacturing/technology capabilities and Health, Safety and Environmental Risks.

  • Represent Quality department on New Product Introduction teams to ensure that supplier quality meets the required standards.

  • Participate in cross-functional teams in the development of new products or changes related to current products in meeting customer requirements.

  • Conduct supplier validation audits. Drives closure coordination of reported non-conformities. Selectively engages with Key Suppliers to drive quality improvement through qualification and training efforts, including first article requirements and quality scorecard business reviews.

  • Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices/designs and future trends.


  • BS in Engineering with 5 years of professional experience working in a Quality organization. Supplier Quality preferred.

  • Previous Quality leadership role in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Passionate about management systems and ability to demonstrate that passion.

  • Ability to concurrently organize and lead multiple improvement teams and to deliver on assignments.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills required for working across multiple-functional organization lines and geographies.

  • Ability to prioritize assignments and multi-task, as well as being a self-starter.

  • Excellent written communication skills, verbal communication skills, and presentation skills to a wide-ranging set of audiences.

  • Ability to demonstrate analytical skill set. Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.

  • Experience in using SAP's Quality Module (inspection plans, quality notifications) and JMP/Minitab preferred.

  • Certified Quality Engineer preferred.

  • Ability to travel (up to 15%).

You will be working in a highly collaborative environment and will Provides technical assistance and manufacturing support for all elements of product and process quality including root cause analysis, data collection and continuous improvement. What you'll be doing * Document Root Cause and Corrective Action for internal and external issues. * Support focused quality activities including process control, root cause, corrective actions, documentation, execution of business systems, and inspection. * Help production teams resolve quality problems. * Review production quality data in timely manner & address trends & data anomalies. * Track and report on plant/team/cell and/or quality performance at pre-established intervals and report results. * Champion and model the use of quality tools. * Champion and model root cause analysis in daily problem solving. * Identify key process characteristics and help develop plans for process control and continuous improvement based on that information. * Support quality activities on R&D projects. * Mentor junior engineers and technicians. * Maintain a thorough knowledge of current ISO 13485 and/or AS9100 industry standards they apply to current business. * Other related duties and/or projects as identified. * Assess risks when reviewing product non-conformances. RequirementsWhat we're looking for * Bachelor's degree in technical or mathematics related field. * 8+ years experience in an electronics manufacturing environment with quality leadership required OR equivalent combination of education and experience. * Experience with implementation and use of SPC. * Preventive and Corrective action and root cause analysis experience. * IPC-A- 610 Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies Certification preferred. * IPC J-STD-001 Certification preferred. * Ability to use problem-solving skills to investigate and resolve problems. * Critical thinking, problem solving, judgment and leadership skills. * Demonstrated ability to lead without formal authority and to lead solutions to difficult and sensitive problems. * Sound knowledge of SPC, preventive and corrective action practices, charts/diagrams, Histograms, normal probability charts. * High level PC based skills – ERP, MS Office required. MS Access, MS Project, knowledge of ERP and PDM is a plus. * Ability to read, write, listen, and otherwise communicate and understand effectively in English is required. * Strong oral and written communications skills are required. The ability to represent Logic PD in a professional manner to customers, auditors, vendors, and other outside contacts is required. * The ability to analyze and derive conclusions out of similar experiences, without established precedent, policy or practices to rely upon. * Strong attention to detail and accuracy is required.
