Job Designation

Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for coordinating suppliers and verifying quality standards in accordance with the requirements of their organization and regulatory standards. SQE will perform regular supplier audits to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. SQE plays a critical role in supply chain management, serves as the liaison for suppliers, suggests structural quality and process improvements, and collaborates with cross functional departments such as engineers, operations and supply chain in a team environment.

Supplier Quality Engineer will support the site in identifying technical problems with suppliers and implements corrective actions. SQE also conducts capability assessments that verify supplier qualifications, travels to assigned suppliers, and support multiple projects to completion.

Job Core Responsibilities

  • Perform supplier approval assessments.

  • Report supplier performance and quality to management.

  • Perform supplier surveillance.

  • First Article Inspection or PPAP.

  • Supplier implementation of customer flow down and special requirements to purchase orders.

  • Work with suppliers to achieve quality and delivery goals and establish and manage supplier performance rating with monthly scorecard driving supplier improvements.

  • Establish & execute action plan for Suppliers quality improvements.

  • Audit and review new and existing supplier surveys.

  • Generates and approves Supplier Corrective Action Requests.

  • Processes concessions for Material Review Board Disposition.

  • Assures Buyer receives any product dispositioned return to supplier.

  • Dispositions Supplier Change Requests.

  • Manages Supplier Change Request Database.

  • Implements Supplier Quality procedures.

  • Maintains supplier evaluation records.

  • Assist in completing Supplier Quality risk assessments.

Job Specifications

Education Level: (Required): Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Field of Study/Area of Experience: Engineering, Technology, Science or Similar
0 - 5 years of Quality experience within an aerospace, medical devise, automotive or any other manufacturing company.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Have working knowledge of organization structure and communications process.

  • Be proficient with computer/electronic media (i.e. Microsoft word, power point, excel, project, etc.).

  • Excellent communication (written & verbal) and people skills.

  • Knowledge of Quality System requirements or processes.

  • Must work well in a Team Environment.

  • Must be problem solvers.

Job Designation Under direct supervision of Supplier Quality Manager, the Sr. Supplier Development Engineer will work directly with various suppliers to resolve a wide range of complex supplier issues that are impacting customer delivery and quality ratings. The Senior Supplier Development Engineer will play a vital role in holding suppliers accountable and drive daily actions, effective RCCA, delivery schedules and provide daily report out to Supply Chain and Supplier Quality departments. The Senior Supplier Development Engineer first area of focus will be taking on an immediate leadership role in working with Casting and Machine house suppliers in resolving immediate quality issues that are impacting on time delivery and quality products for one of the high profile customer programs. Job Core Responsibilities * Supplier Quality responsibilities include but is not limited to: * Resolves quality issues with effective containment and RCCA with main focus on casting and machine level. * Leads the selection, development, verification, validation and qualification of current and new casting and machined product suppliers. * Performs Quality Assurance Systems Audits, reviews and validate methods per applicable procedures including Special Processes NADCAP Certification. * Participates in PPAP Key Quality Element development, i.e Process Flows, FMEAs, Control Plans, Capability Assessments, Production Monitoring and ZDP deployment at suppliers. * Improves and resolves supplier quality issues with welding and NDE processes. * Drives process improvement with weld repair and schedules per Meggitt, Customer and AWS D17.1 Welding Standard. * Acts as one of the key members in Material Review Board meetings for disposition of Supplier nonconforming products including weld repair approvals, casting related nonconformance such as porosity, penetration, shrinkage cavities, fusion and etc. per Meggitt drawing and Welding Standard AWS D17.1. * Acts as a liaison between Supply Chain, Supplier Quality and Quality Engineering departments to drive daily actions with supplier and provide daily report out to the cross functional departments. * Supply Chain responsibilities include but is not limited to: * Resolve issues that are impacting supplier on time delivery performance. * Working with suppliers to develop quality and lead time improvement programs, as appropriate. * Must have experience in tooling design and the foundry process. * Have the capability to tell the difference between a weld defect and cosmetic defect in a casting. * Must have extensive experience within the technical and operational areas of the metals manufacturing in casting and machining industries. * Maintaining the supply base in balance with the needs of multiple value streams within our business, ensuring appropriate balance of capacity and flexibility. * Act as a liaison between purchasing and planning by either pushing or pulling in outstanding purchase orders. * Working closely with suppliers to develop our supplier certification/supplier excellence process. * Expedite and confirm delivery of all open purchase orders to ensure timely arrival of materials to support production schedules. * Developing and publishing supplier performance reports, quarterly business reviews and implementation supplier excellence program. * Liaising with suppliers regarding lead times and product availability. * Performs other duties and assignments as assigned.
