Job Introduction

The Supplier Quality Engineer will report directly to the Engineering Manager. Nascote offers a very competitve compensation package including quarterly and annual profit sharing.

Major Responsibilities

Monitors supplier performance in the Magna QPF system.Assists suppliers in development of effective quality systems.Guide suppliers through APQP process, including review and approval of supplier PPAP submissions.Review and approve supplier corrective action responses

Conducts on site surveys/audits of the supplier manufacturing sites.Travels to potential suppliers w with Purchasing representative to evaluate manufacturing sites.Promotes the maintenance of a clean and safe work area.Leads and/or assists Task Forces, Employee Activity groups, and Safety 8D Teams as required.Completes documentation of activities as required. Requisitions necessary suppliers.Must be competent in and utilize AIG "Core Tools" and AITF 16949, 2016 2nd party requirements

Submits cost reduction and innovation ideas.Performs Nascote QMS audits as assigned.Performs other tasks as assigned.

Knowledge and Education


  • B.S. or B.A. degree, preferably in a technical field


  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification

Work Experience


  • One year experience involving team leadership, including TOPS teams; APQP, Inspection, testing, auditing;Required

  • One year continuous work experience.

Skills and Competencies

Must have strong problem-solving skills.Must have good computer skills, including the use of spreadsheets and databases.Must work well with others. Must have good communication skills both verbal and written.Must have strong math skills. Must have strong SPC skills.Must have the ability to read and follow technical instructions.Must have the ability to read automotive blueprints and engineering specifications.Must have the ability to make group presentations.Required

  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Work Environment

Office environment. Will spend some time in manufacturing environment using normal PPE and safety precautions.

VIEW JOBS 9/13/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-12-12T00:00 Job Title Supplier Quality Engineer Job Description In this role, you have the opportunity to Implement Quality Engineering, Purchasing Controls and Supplier Quality processes related to the development, procurement and continuous improvement of manufacturing materials, components, software, sub-assemblies, contract manufactured finished devices/products or services, and their introduction into Philips supply chain. Ensure compliance to regulatory requirements and/or procedures for regulated products/processes. Ensure raw material and component specs and drawings are translated to supplier quality requirements, qualify suppliers, assess metrics of whether supplier products meet quality specifications, and audit suppliers critical to quality processes. Ensure that validations are completed where specified, and control plans exist to ensure the sustained quality and compliance of supplied raw materials and components. Ensure correction and prevention activities of suppliers are timely and effective. You are responsible for * Set quality system requirements to suppliers, including those for services, indirect quality relevant purchases (non-BOM), and QS requirements for suppliers in global markets * Perform Qualification of suppliers to medical device standards and oversee their placement on the Approved Supplier List (ASL), including audit of Supplier Master File; Project book oversight as assigned * Conduct and oversee supplier audits- qualification and re-qualification, including finding closure * Collect, trend and report supplier quality metrics * Improve/develop quality systems at selected suppliers for QMS and compliance improvement, SQIP (Supplier Quality Improvement Program) * Develop purchasing controls processes and procedures, including those for BOM, non-BOM, services, spare parts and Markets * Evaluate and improve the effectiveness of purchasing controls and supplier quality processes and procedures, including Quality Agreements * Assist BG/Market in preparing for and defending Purchasing Controls in inspections by external agencies or internal Philips audits of Purchasing Controls processes * Manage and oversee BG Purchasing controls CAPA, including root cause identification, and effective and timely closure * Develop and deliver training to internal teams and suppliers on Philips Purchasing controls processes and procedures * Support as a Subject matter expert the Supplier Quality related processes towards projects (internal/ external projects). Risk management, purchasing controls. * Service Part Qualifications (PPA, APQP, PSW) To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience * Bachelor Degree in relevant technical function * Requires 2 + years of related work experience; preference medical device; cross-industry experience a plus (e.g., automotive, aerospace) * Knowledge of medical device regulations, e.g., ISO 13485, FDA cGMP, MDD, other global equivalent * Experience in Product/process development and/or supplier quality improvement; * Experience in root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action methods * Expertise/experience in problem solving with quality tools such as: 6-sigma / 8-D / CAPA / FMEA/ 5WHY etc. * Good knowledge of production/quality development and control methods; CtQ definition, DfSS, SPC, APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, etc. * Auditing skill sets, up to and including certified SQ lead auditor training; with advanced production/development and/or special process auditing skills e.g., Software suppliers. * Ability to read and understand engineering drawing notations, tolerances, specifications * Experience with Software Databases; excellent MS office skills (Word, Access, Excel) required * Travel Frequency 20% Why should you join Philips?
