About this Role

  • A developing professional responsible for ensuring the Quality of the raw materials that are being used in the elaboration of medical devices, ensuring they comply with Regulations, Standards, Corporate and Site specifications as well as specific contract requirements. With a working knowledge of manufacturing processes, supplier relations and application of business and technical concepts.

  • Drives improvement and corrective action in the quality of components sourced from outside suppliers. Provides technical support in the selection of suppliers. Develops acceptance criteria for materials. Monitors supplier performance to drive supplier corrective action, manufacturing yield issues and field failures.

Your Responsibilities

  • Assess potential new suppliers for technical, quality and manufacturing capabilities. Provides technical support for the introduction of components from a new supplier.

  • Generates and maintains incoming inspection procedures. Trains inspectors to these procedures.

  • Develops and/or sources inspection tools and equipment.

  • Assists in generating component specifications.

  • Generate test protocols, monitor testing, issue qualification test reports and approve components for use in products.

  • Provide input to Design Engineering on new component technology and assist in component selection with quality and reliability analysis.

  • Analyses incoming material defects. Dispositions and drives corrective action as necessary. Communicates issues to suppliers.

  • Reviews new design specifications and provides input from component quality and manufacturability perspective.

  • Reviews new design specifications and provides input from component quality and manufacturability perspective.

  • Investigates field failures related to supplier materials. Develop corrective action plan where necessary.

  • May supervise inspectors.

What we are looking for

Basic Qualifications:

  • Engineering experience in manufacturing floor, operations environment (2-5 years relevant industry experience)

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering/technical field such as materials science, chemical or mechanical engineering

  • Experience solving problems of moderate scope and complexity

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Preferred qualifications

  • Laboratory Equipment: Measuring Tools and Failure Analysis

  • Statistical Analysis

  • Experience with Supplier Management

  • Test Method Validations and Process Validations

  • CQE/Sig Sigma BB is a plus

  • Experience working in a regulated environment

About This Role: Quality Engineer II will be a key member of the Coatpack, Polychem, and Self-Expanding Stents (CPS) team, primarily supporting the manufacturing lines for catheter coating, packaging and labelling with potential growth into chemical manufacturing (Embolic Microspheres) and/or supervision of quality technicians. The QE II role will partner with representatives from the Manufacturing Engineering and Production functions to compile, analyze, interpret and present data and information to support quality investigations, strategic improvement projects, and continuous improvement projects within the department. The ideal candidate will be comfortable interfacing with downstream internal customers and providing quality leadership to a production team running across three shifts. Your Responsibilities Will Include: * Lead in the investigation and resolution of non-conforming events within the department. * Drive robust CAPA investigations and implement solutions to improve the quality of products and processes within the department. * Supports culture of continuous improvement by driving enhancements to existing process controls. * Applies sound, systematic problem-solving methodologies in identifying, prioritizing, communicating, and resolving quality issues. * Actively engage production teams across all 3 shifts to develop solutions to improve outgoing quality. * Provides project direction, coaching, and mentoring for engineering and technical team personnel. * Participates in team decision making and displays team problem solving/communication skills. What We're Looking For In You: Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in STEM related field * Minimum 3 years relevant experience in a Quality or Manufacturing role working within a regulated industry. * Excellent Technical Writing and communication skills * Ability to analyze complex data sets using statistical and engineering tools and communicate results to broad range of audience. * Ability to apply engineering essentials to quality investigations to drive to root cause understanding and effective solutions.
