Role Purpose

Provide leadership and direction to suppliers to ensure compliance to GKN's Supplier Standards, QCD (Quality, Cost, and Delivery) performance process requirements, ISO/TS16949 quality systems, and PPAP process. Ensure KPIs are measured and managed and that results are reported.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a supplier monitoring system (scorecard) to objectively measure overall performance. Challenge suppliers to continuously improve to meet targets.

  • Ensure timely reporting of supplier performance, aligned with the voice of the customer.

  • Support formal assessment of suppliers by conducting supplier audits in compliance with the purchasing functional milestones.

  • Implement Quality Improvement Activity for external suppliers on business hold or on escalation with GKN or the customer.

  • Manage Supplier Concern and Complaint Management process (CCM) and take corrective action when necessary, including reporting of cost of quality for further chargeback to the supplier

  • Support GKN change management approval process for changes to product specification and/or manufacturing quality processes related to the supplier. Ensure adequate internal controls, including new PPAP approval where required, to manage all potential associated risks.

  • Ensure Problem Solving with external suppliers follows appropriate GKN & customer problem solving processes.

  • Undertake training when identified to improve business capability and allow for changes in technology and quality requirements. Continuously improve supplier quality sub function.

Product Safety Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the GKN Product Safety Policy and Product Safety Procedure.

  • Immediately report PPSI (Potential Product Safety and Integrity) concerns to the Quality Manager in production or the Chief Engineer in development.

  • Ensure GKN suppliers understand and adhere to special characteristic management per GKN's standard.

  • Ensure GKN suppliers understand and adhere to GKN's PPSI reporting and corrective action process.

Essential

Bachelor's Degree in technical field with 5 years of work experience or equivalent

Desirable

VDA 6.3 auditor certified

Specific Functional Capabilities, Knowledge and Skills Required

Essential

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, familiar with MS Office tools.

  • Formal problem-solving skills (5WHYs, 8D, fishbone, PPS, etc)

  • Experience with core quality tools, including SPC, APQP, and PPAP

  • Project Management skills

  • Experience with on-site Audits.

Desirable

Technical

  • Supplier or Purchasing environment experience

  • Experience working in Quality Function

  • Experience with quality processes such as FMEA and PFMEA

  • Experience/training with ISO/TS 16949 systems

  • Interpretation of drawings and technical specifications (including GD&T)

  • Understanding of GKN driveline products and processes

  • Lean Principles, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma training

The positions will be responsible for performing the following Quality Assurance (QA) responsibilities: batch disposition, investigation approval, complaints handling, Biological Product Deviation Reports (BPDR) issuance and Annual Product Record Reviews (APRR). In addition, the positions will be responsible for day-to-day- oversight of Upstream/Downstream Stage 2 Gene Therapy (GTx) Quality Operations Teams and ensuring alignment with the Stage 1 Gene Therapy Quality Operations and Vaccines Quality Operations roles. As Stage 2 is currently in the design phase, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing processes and procedures to perform these responsibilities. This will require working collaboratively with cross-functional groups in Stage 2, at the Sanford site and across the Pfizer network. This is a first shift Job, occasional shift work may be required to support manufacturing operations. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Serves as the primary contacts for Stage 2 GTx Quality Operations day-to-day matters. Responsible for escalating significant concerns to Management. Leads Continuous Improvement initiatives to create compliant, efficient processes for Quality Operations in Stage 2. This includes developing and maintaining standard work, visual management and problem solving using DMAIC methodology. Interfaces with the Stage 1 Quality Operations team and Sanford Vaccines Quality Operations team to ensure consistent approaches and sharing of best practices. Responsible for performing the following Stage 2 Gene Therapy QA responsibilities: batch disposition, manufacturing floor support, investigation approval, complaints handling, Biological Product Deviation Reports (BPDR) issuance, and Annual Product Record Review (APRR); and overseeing junior level team members executing the aforementioned responsibilities. Responsible for knowing, understanding, role modeling, and ensuring others follow Pfizer's values and culture.
