This person will be responsible for utilizing their technical & quality engineering skills to drive Collins Aerospace's Zero Defect Plan (ZDP) out in the supply base supporting our Power & Controls business unit.

Geographical Specification:

  • Position has the ability to work 100% remote

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to ensure effective execution of ZDP at assigned suppliers

  • Identifies and communicates, trains assigned suppliers and all levels of their supply chain

  • Execute baseline status of supplier's ZDP, defines level of maturity and establishes gap closure plan

  • Analyzes the supplier's performance data, ZDP tracker and initiates action based on results to improve / correct

  • Drives processes to develop, modify, apply, and maintain quality evaluation, control systems and protocols

  • Provides analysis and guidance to ensure quality standards are in effect

  • Implements testing and inspection plans, methods, and technologies to assure reliability and conformance of products and processes

  • Analyzes and makes recommendations for corrective actions for nonconformities and design problems for internally produced products & processes

  • Follow-through to verify effectiveness of the closed improvement actions

  • Executes, tracks, and reports ZDP 6 phases

  • Illustrate ZDP maturity & results based on objective evidence at the supplier's operation

  • Ensure incorporation of the ZDP required quality control actions

  • Conducts Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) of supplier's processes, products, and supply chain activity

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR

  • Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical background in the manufacturing & inspection of various product commodities such as complex machined components, sensors, electronics, fabrications, engineered items, heat exchangers, castings, forgings

  • Technical manufacturing and quality engineering competencies (APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, DFMEA, SPC)

  • Industry recognized quality/project management certifications (CQE, PMP, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing)

  • Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously, meeting schedules and timelines

  • Familiarity with aerospace industry standards (AS9100, AS13004, AS9145, etc.)

  • Knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP

This individual will coordinate the identification and resolution of risks / obstacles at suppliers to ensure manufacturing, supply chain, and delivery schedules are in alignment with customer needs. This individual will need to be able to provide technical support to suppliers to resolve manufacturing challenges. This individual must be based in the New England area (CT, MA, NH, VT). Primary Responsibilities: * Executes onsite assessments with buyers, quality, and engineering teams to drive supplier improvement. * Uses Supplier Development Playbook and other performance improvement tools to improve key supplier performance to Supplier Gold standards. * Partners with suppliers to identify and remove barriers to the implementation of Continuous Improvement tools to improve on-time delivery and quality. * Monitors and analyzes supplier performance and applies sustainable countermeasures and actions in order to facilitate improvement. * Conducts production readiness assessments for New Product Introduction and rate increases, including capacity confirmation to ensure a timely ramp-up to production volumes. * Monitors key performance indicators, analyzes cost-to-serve performance data, and coordinates cross-functional work teams to increase effectiveness of supply chain initiatives. * Engages the management of key suppliers to initiate appropriate improvement programs to achieve and sustain high levels of performance. * Coordinates across sites and functional boundaries (Supplier Operations Support) to identify and resolve risks/obstacles in a pro-active and expeditious manner to ensure manufacturing, supply chain and delivery schedules are in alignment with customer needs. * Plans, organizes, directs and reports all activities and matters relating to supplier performance. * Evaluates supplier performance, management, and capacity and production readiness. * Assesses supplier qualifications including training and certifications. * Elaborates supplier development plans and works in collaboration with the supplier to Basic Qualifications: * Candidates for this role should possess a Bachelor's degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced degree and 3 years of prior relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required * Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident "Green Card" holder * Must be willing and able to day travel 40% of the time Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Operations and Supply Chain, Engineering, or other related Business field. * Technical background in machining/castings/forgings or other advanced manufacturing operations. * Experience working in shop floor environment as a manufacturing engineer, industrial engineer, or production supervisor * Demonstrated project management skills and provide examples of past success while leading cross-functional teams to achieve desired results. * Ability to communicate successfully with all levels of leadership both internally and externally. * Background in materials management or master scheduling is a plus.
