Supplier Quality Engineer

The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team in Solon, OH. In this role, you will develop, modify, apply, and maintain supplier quality evaluation and control systems/protocols. You will also devise, implement and improve methods and procedures for site supplier management.

This role will be a full-time, hybrid role (3 days per week onsite, 2 days remote).

What we're looking for

• Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or related discipline.

• Experience: 3+ years' experience in supplier quality engineering role or relevant experience.

• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 preferred.

• Experience in chemical industry a plus.

• Previous experience in conducting quality audits preferable.

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

• Ability to identify problems and communicate solutions in a constructive and positive manner.

• Attention to detail; excellent organizational and record keeping skills.

• Working knowledge and experience with LEAN, Six Sigma methodologies.

• Proficiency working with Microsoft Excel, Word.

• Experience with SAP and ETQ systems preferred.

• ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or are currently pursuing certification is preferred.

How you will thrive and create an impact

• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure raw material and packaging compliance.

• Lead the site supplier qualification process. Review all documentation submitted by suppliers to ensure compliance to requirements prior to approval.

• Responsible for electronic supplier file maintenance in site database and ERP systems. Ensure supplier documentation is current and make updates as appropriate.

• Investigate incoming OOS material and production complaints of raw material and packaging nonconformities and issue appropriate Supplier Corrective Action if necessary and conduct appropriate follow-ups.

• Review existing supplier contracts and change notifications and update where applicable.

• Manage supplier related change management.

• Review supplier notification for product and process changes and work with associated departments to coordinate in-house validation/verification activities.
