Overview

The Engineer, Supplier Quality plays a key role in ensuring that our products meet quality standards. This role will work closely with the product development teams and suppliers to ensure we meet or exceed industry quality standards; address issues of supplier non-conformance and conduct supplier audits. This role has a remote work arrangement with approximately 30% travel.

Responsibilities

Work closely with New Product Development (NPD) teams to ensure quality is prioritized and complete.

Help to ensure design validation plans are completed and effective. Drive root cause analysis using warranty data on all launched products. Participate in failure modes effects analysis on all new products with engineering in order to identify risks and assist with the implementation of mitigation and control plans for these risks.

Product/Process Nonconformance Continuous Improvement for all supplier related products, processes and projects. Responsible for Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR's), Supplier Quality Notifications (SQN's) and ensure robust corrective actions have been implemented by suppliers.

Issue notifications of product nonconformance to suppliers requesting root cause identification, corrective action definition and improvement action planning. Achieve monthly KPI's such as SCAR closures and rejected inventory below established dollar targets.

Responsible for Audit and Qualification for all assigned existing and new suppliers. Ensure robust plans are in place to have suppliers meet targets.

Lead Supplier Production Approval Process (SPAP) for NPD projects. Responsible to ensure all existing and new purchased parts have robust receiving inspection plans in place and complete SPAP.

Support and adhere to QMS, safety and production practices. Assist suppliers with clear requirements, specifications and production standards.

Implement, maintain and increase Supplier Certifications and skip lots per instruction and guidelines.

Support Quality software releases such as Reliance ETQ, SalesForce and SAP Ariba. Act as a lead or trainer where applicable.

Review internal knowledge base and work with 3 rd party industry experts assisting with supplier development activities in order to increase quality, enhance reliability, and improve dependability

Assist suppliers with the development and implementation of statistical sampling plans and inspection procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience

  • Strong understanding of the product development process and the role of quality and supply chain in new product launches as well as ongoing production

  • Team player - collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources; experience working with others on a global basis is a plus

  • Analytical and problem solving skills - communicates in a clear and succinct manner; effectively evaluates information/data to make decisions

  • Change oriented - knowledge of process improvement tools; confronts difficult circumstances in creative ways, balances multiple and competing objectives

  • Strong communications skills. Ability to present NPD status at Gate reviews is required.

  • Experience in Statistics and Minitab is a plus

  • ASQ Certification or equivalent, and Six Sigma Green Belt are a plus

Hiring Range

The Hiring Salary Range for this position is $74,000.00- $100,000.00 annually.

(Salary offer to be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
