Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manages supplier quality issues through monitoring / escalation processes, escape management, processing of supplier submission of non-conforming material and supporting internal MRB processes.

  • Initiates part specific quality issue resolution and corrective actions.

  • Supports supplier qualification / certification.

  • Manages source inspection and material release processes.

  • Performs Escape management procedures, drives root cause analysis & problem solving (Red-X & 8D) and recommends corrective and preventive action for systemic process and product design problems for product provided by suppliers.

  • Drives Corrective Action Boards/DQ Clinics with suppliers.

  • Proactively supports the UTC Supplier Gold program to ensure healthy continuous improvement and sustainability.

  • Analyzes quality data to identify systemic issues and develops supplier specific quality initiative strategies and addresses with key proactive quality tools (e.g. PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow and Control Plans, SPC, etc.), driving their implementation.

  • Ensures that supplier is capable to meet all requirements for work transfer and process change management including Resourcing Gate and Production Part Approval Process (UPPAP) acceptance.

  • Executes elements of supplier qualification / certification, assessment, monitoring, escape management, and / or quality issue resolution processes.

  • Uses quality data to contribute to the development of part / supplier specific quality issue resolution and corrective actions. Conducts research and provides explanations in the course of root cause analysis & problem solving (Red-X & 8D) in escape management procedures.

  • Makes recommendations for the development of corrective and / or preventive actions for systemic process and product design problems for product provided by suppliers.

  • Executes elements of processes and procedures for supplier qualification / certification, source inspection and material release processes, and Correction Action Boards / DQ Clinics with suppliers.

  • Conducts activities in support of the UTC Supplier Gold program to ensure healthy continuous improvement and sustainability.

Description: * The Advance Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Advance Supplier Quality functions * The Engineer will provide launch support by providing on-site support at suppliers' facilities to ensure launch readiness as required leading up to and including program launch * Provide on-site support at client Assembly plants as required * Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Purchasing to ensure proper designs, suppliers, and manufacturing processes are selected * Drive change within both plant manufacturing and component suppliers to resolve component issues * Ensure component suppliers' processes are robust and capable * Lead problem solving activities within internal and external organizations * Manage key component quality milestones * Develop and present program status updates and articulate open issues to senior leadership * Travel will be required to supplier and other client locations in the U.S. and Canada (approximately 40%) Requirements: * Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited university with a Minimum 3+ years work experience in Quality, Supplier Quality, Automotive Engineering: highly preferred Interior experience but will accept Body, Powertrain, or Exterior commodities * Proven ability to manage multiple projects and tasks * Effective written and verbal communication skills * Proficient interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team * Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite software * Creative problem solving ability and a results orientation * Comfortable with complex technical analysis * May be required to drive a company car.
