Role Summary:

Partner with supplier quality engineers and suppliers to improve process capability & reduce costs associated with process variation to ensure that all processes and products are executed with the appropriate level of quality for our customers. Share the knowledge of underlying principles, approaches and methodologies of structured problem solving with the SQ organization to drive long-term supplier quality improvement.

Essential Responsibilities:

As the Supplier Quality Continuous Improvement Leader, you will:

  • Solve technical problems by leveraging structured problem-solving, using the Shainin Red X Problem Solving methodologies, 8D, and other quality tools.

  • Train, coach and mentor individuals in the organization on the application of Shainin Red X problem solving methodologies.

  • Apply data analytics methods to obtain understanding of problems, uncover potential causes and drive actions for lasting solution.

  • Close projects by establishing timelines with focus on execution and follow-through.

  • Act as a change agent, systematically driving continuous improvement and change.

  • Present ideas, thoughts and plans on how to accelerate problem solving proficiency in the organization and supply base.

  • Be the subject matter expert on effective problem solving/Root Cause Analysis (RCA)


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Control / Continuous Improvement

Desired Characteristics:

  • Shainin Red X Journeyman certification or equivalent technical structured problem solving experience

  • Six Sigma (DMAIC or DFSS) and LEAN experience; Black Belt Certification

  • Working knowledge of other QC/CI tools

  • Demonstrated leadership skills in a matrix environment

  • Demonstrated project management, organization, and planning skills

  • Experience in coaching and training in the application of the problem-solving techniques

  • Strong change management skills

  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

Essential Job Duties: * Drive business to achieve supplier(s) revenue and growth goals * Develop and plan for growth and retention strategies to increase share of wallet and relationship with assigned supplier(s) and customers * Successful achievement of recruitment of new customers and growth/development of existing customer base * Maintain high profile for assigned supplier(s) to further productive relationships * Present ScanSource message to customers and prospects through one-on-one, live meetings or recorded events * Understand the competitive landscape of both the distributor and supplier(s) * Monitor pipeline, recruiting and performance to goal for assigned supplier(s) * Maintain product knowledge of assigned supplier(s) and their competitors * Work closely with sales organization to ensure proper account coverage * Regular attendance is an essential function of this position Reporting Relationships: * Direct supervision given from Manager or Director, Supplier Business Development or VP, Supplier Services * Daily contact with supplier(s) representatives, sales reps, and ScanSource management * Will occasionally make presentations to supplier(s), customers and ScanSource Senior Management Requirements: * 2+ years of previous experience in a supplier, sales or business development role * Previous experience in distribution channel strategies in a customer facing role * Strong communications skills * Self-motivated with ability to prioritize and execute * Experience with financial reporting and forecasting; proficiency in Microsoft Excel Preferred: * Four-year degree from an accredited college or university; preferably in business or management * Prior sales or account management experience * Supplier certification(s) * SAP and experience * Proficiency in foreign language (Spanish, Portuguese, French, German) Physical Requirements: * Ability to sit a computer terminal for long periods of time * Ability to be physically in attendance at workstation at designated company office location or remote location during normal business hours designated for the position * Ability to travel up to 40% of the time * Ability to lift 20 pounds ScanSource, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer EOE/M/F Scansource, Inc.
