SCOPE

The Supplier Manager is responsible for comprehending business strategies and incorporating them in the systematic execution of daily activities related to the strategic initiatives for their assigned suppliers.

The Supplier Manager also has the mission to proactively:

  1. Enhance the image of Mouser in the marketplace as the distributor of choice.Own their business by delivering on supplier, Mouser and customer needs.

  2. Discover new products and advanced technologies within their assigned suppliers.

  3. Implement the inventory, product selection, marketing, and pricing strategies.

  4. Be the primary point of contact for their assigned suppliers.


The Supplier Manager reports to a Corporate Supplier Manager or a Director of Supplier Management.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Instrumental in executing strategic activities, and learns to develop strategic direction for their area of responsibility. Achieves specific revenue, customer and product goals within their assigned suppliers that is consistent with corporate strategies. Develops skills for managing suppliers, understanding their competitive landscape and developing the business with a global perspective.

  • Develops mutually beneficial supplier relationships and promotes Mouser's value proposition by fostering unique solutions and advantages for suppliers. Positions Mouser as the preferred go-to-market partner with suppliers. Advocates for assigned suppliers by promoting their market value internally within the various departments.

  • Analyzes their assigned portfolio and identifies new opportunities for growth. Continuously researches, discovers and recommends new products and advanced technologies in support of new designs for customers. Learns to identify, recommend and champion unique marketing opportunities for their assigned suppliers, employing Mouser's many marketing tools and teams.

  • Manages the flow of supplier's new products and technologies into Mouser by providing the proper content to the various functional teams (NPI, Technical Marketing, Data, Pricing Management, etc.) enabling them to execute their tasks in a timely manner, guaranteeing Mouser's customers always have access to the newest products and information.

  • Verifies and maintains data integrity by confirming systems/databases reflect accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date product information (i.e. descriptions and template locations, parametric information, ordering and delivery information, etc.) for suppliers. Manages inventory breadth and depth within company goals for assigned suppliers by maintaining the product mix which best meets corporate financial objectives, category strategies and customer requirements.

  • Responds to the various Mouser teams and departments swiftly, with decisive and relevant customer-focused solutions.

  • Working within a Supplier Management Team, coordinates activities with suppliers and the many functional teams throughout Mouser by employing effective communication, project and resource management skills. Remains continuously up-to-date with policies, procedures and processes.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in the accountabilities, competencies and skills of the Supplier Specialist role and coaches the supporting Product Assistants and Product Specialists in the execution of daily activities.

May consult and educate management on supplier strategies, initiatives and planning. Executes all other tasks, duties and responsibilities as assigned by the management team.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelors Degree in a Business or Technical Discipline preferred. Five years of progressive industry related experience preferred including sales, marketing, product management, distribution, asset management, etc.

SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Has acceptable driving record and can provide current, valid driver's license and current proof of insurance

  • Advanced knowledge of purchasing, inventory management, internal Mouser systems

  • Developing knowledge of global market trend analysis

  • Advanced knowledge in Excel (70%), and other Microsoft Office programs.

ACCOUNTABILITIES * In conjunction with Senior Management, organizes strategic career advancement and direction of the team members in their area of responsibility. Uses broad industry, supplier and market knowledge in implementing efforts to achieve specific revenue, customer and product goals. Is an expert in managing suppliers, understanding competitive landscape and developing the business with a global perspective. * Customarily and regularly directs the work of two or more full-time employees or their equivalent. Makes suggestions and recommendations for these employees regarding performance and change of status, including transfer, advancement, termination, and hiring. * Cultivates and maintains influential relationships with key suppliers and industry leaders, and expands Mouser's market value by fostering unique solutions and advantages for suppliers. Positions Mouser as the preferred go-to-market partner with suppliers. Advocates for categories and suppliers by promoting their market value with the various internal departments. * Hires, trains and develops qualified people.
