Supplemental Instructor - Innovation Outpost

This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next part-time Supplemental Instructor for the Innovation Outpost who will be all-in on our mission and who will perform duties primarily related to the instruction of courses in assigned subject matter areas. These topics are based on Human Skills and augment the learning that occurs in courses through Upskill Amarillo.

EDUCATION:

Required:
Bachelor’s Degree

Preferred: Master's Degree

EXPERIENCE

Required: Previous training experience with group facilitation.

Preferred: Previous training and facilitation experience related to Human Skills such as Growth Mindset, Emotional Intelligence, Effective Communication, and other workforce skills.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Execute prepared lesson plans and manage classroom using high engagement practices and retention strategies.
• Teach critical thinking and problem-solving skills to help students improve human skills for success in the workplace and academic setting.
• Monitor, assist and evaluate learners.
• Work directly with curriculum developers to improve content for next iteration.
• Develop supplemental learning materials that will help students build skills related to the core content.
• Complete administrative paperwork.
• Perform teaching activities, including classroom instruction, group exercises, directing projects, and assisting with student coursework.
• Plan, develop and present organized classroom instructions and learning opportunities for students in accordance with approved course outlines.

• Ability to use various instructional methods, materials, and techniques to address all learning styles and cultural differences.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time, and be able to move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.

Salary:Amarillo College Staff Salary Schedule grade 10 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).

Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)

Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets) and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions. Software commonly used includes Microsoft Office, Colleague, and various other educational applications. Work may also be performed outside of the office and with little to no supervision.
