This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Part-Time Supplemental Instructor in Mathematics will will provide hands-on training, guidance, and supervision students in Mathematics classes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mathematics, excellent communication skills, and a passion for educating the next generation of math students.

Requirements

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor’s Degree and/or Associate’s Degree

EXPERIENCE

Required:
Previous secondary or post-secondary teaching experience in Mathematics.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in helping instructor teach assigned course(s) utilizing appropriate and engaging instructional methods and techniques.
  • Provide guidance in solving mathematical problems.
  • Collaborate with program faculty to design and update curriculum content.
  • Assist in the preparation and administration of mathematical assessments and evaluations.
  • Instruct and assess students in active learning environments.
  • Maintain student progress records, if requested by the instructor.
  • Contribute to student recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement efforts to enhance the effectiveness of the mathematical program.
  • Participate in community outreach and engagement activities to promote the program.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proficiency in mathematical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing educational methodologies and incorporate technology into teaching practices.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with students, colleagues, and patients.
  • Ability to stay informed about new techniques, and emerging technologies in the field of mathematics.

Salary: Amarillo College - Salary Schedules (actx.edu), Pay grade 10 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.

Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)

Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets) and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions. Software commonly used includes Microsoft Office, Colleague, and various other educational applications. Work may also be performed outside of the office and with little to no supervision.
