You will develop occupational safety criteria, guidelines, and standards for the activity.
You will conduct special studies and investigation of hazardous situations or operational problems to determine origin, causes, and contributing elements.
You will conduct studies and develop solutions in complex troublesome areas of occupational safety for which standard or criteria have not been developed.
You will monitor the safety program to determine compliance with the policies and regulations and the need for corrective actions or areas where improvements can be made.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
This position is eligible for part time, full time or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector utilizing safety and occupational health principles, practices and regulations to identify and evaluate effective of Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene programs; determining causal factors contributing to mishaps or resulting in hazardous working conditions; planning and implementing organization-wide activities to promote safe work practices, sound equipment, operations procedures and use of protective equipment; and/or devising safety procedures or policies that are designed to reduce injury and hazardous operations, materials and/or work practices.
