This position is located in the Department of Primary Care.
COLA Statement: Federal employees in Alaska are currently entitled to receive a 3.74% Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary. This is subject to change.

Responsible for planning, directing, and supervising all aspects and activities of the clinics to include: diagnosis, care, treatment, and proper medical disposition of patients; conduct of professional and other training activities
Establish the distribution and utilization of offices, examination rooms, and common areas within the Department.
Utilize clinical video tele-health modality to deliver primary care services to patients.
Provide a broad range of medical diagnosis, treatment, counseling, services and referrals to specialty clinics.
Provide supervision and consultative advice for professional and administrative matters for all patients in the prime care system.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
Permanent Positions: Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to sign DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
A pre-placement medical examination is required.
Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and certification sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA). Advanced certification (e.g., Advanced Life Support) does not supersede BLS completion.
Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.

Basic Requirement for Supervisory Physician (Administrative) Position:
Degree: Doctor of Medicine from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicants graduation. [A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country).
Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree, a candidate must have had at least one year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in an institution accredited for such training.
Licensure/Certification: Candidates must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Experience/Training: Applicants must possess 5 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training.
