This position serves as a Chief Nurse Executive for the Lawton Indian Hospital in Lawton, OK. Purpose of the position is to provide direction, organization and management for the service unit's nursing service program.

Incumbent is responsible for the development and implementation of the philosophy and goals and objectives of the nursing program; the development and implementation of a nursing service program. This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

  • Provides management and supervision of Lawton Indian Hospital's nursing services program.

  • Participates in top management, discussion, decisions, and policy making and sharing for the facility.

  • Evaluates and adjusts the organizational structures to accomplish the Lawton Indian Hospitals nursing care and service goals.

  • Serves as the Director of Housekeeping services, responsible for the Housekeeping, linen program operations and contracted housekeeping services.

A one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period may be required upon selection/placement.

Measles and Rubella immunization required for selectees born after 1957. Seasonal Influenza immunization is required for civilian health care facility staff working in Indian Health Service health care facilities.

The selected individual is required to obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements. If privileges are not obtained or maintained during employment, the employee will be subject to adverse actions, up to and including removal from Federal service.

No promotion penitential.

On-call hours or standby duty may be required.

Recruitment or relocation incentives may be authorized. At least a 1 year service agreement will be required.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

For positions requiring positive education requirements, or if you are using education to meet all or part of the qualification requirements, you MUST submit a copy of your transcripts or an itemized list of college courses which includes equivalent information from the transcript (course title, semester/quarter hours, and grade/degree earned) in your resume.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):

Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required.

This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Must submit copy of transcript. Applications will be considered incomplete without proof.

Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Applications will be considered incomplete without proof.

AND

Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.

In addition, they must possess a current, active, full and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Must submit copy of nursing license that includes an expiration date. Applications will be considered incomplete without proof.

In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

In addition to the mandatory license and education described above under Basic Requirements applicants must have at least one or more full years of professional nursing experience that is equivalent to the next lower grade level.

GS-14: Professional Nursing Experience: Organize and manage the nursing service program of a medical facility; supervise subordinate staff; prepare work performance plans, schedules, and evaluated work performance of subordinate staff; as a supervisor initiate and submit required information to fill vacant positions, promote subordinate staff, give advice, counsel or instruction to subordinate staff on administrative matters, hear and resolve complaints from staff, effect disciplinary measures when needed; implement and maintain accreditation requirements; and initiate and uphold quality assurance and improvement methodologies.

Supervisory Abilities: This is a supervisory position and candidates, in addition to the professional qualifications listed, must have demonstrated in their work experience or training, that they possess, or have potential to develop, the qualities of successful supervision.

Requirements:

Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

Provides psychiatric consultation, diagnostic and treatment services to the identified inmate population, including medication management and crisis intervention services. Qualifications Education: * Degree in Advanced Practice Nursing in a course of study from an accredited college or university that allows for prescriptive privileges upon obtaining appropriate licensure. Experience: * Clinical experience preferred * Psychiatric experience preferred Licenses/Certifications: * Must be currently licensed by the appropriate state licensing board to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse. * Certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in the state of practice desired. * Must maintain CPR certification, and any other certifications (such as First Aid) required by contract.
