This position serves as a Chief Nurse Executive for the Lawton Indian Hospital in Lawton, OK. Purpose of the position is to provide direction, organization and management for the service unit's nursing service program.
Incumbent is responsible for the development and implementation of the philosophy and goals and objectives of the nursing program; the development and implementation of a nursing service program. This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

The selected individual is required to obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements. If privileges are not obtained or maintained during employment, the employee will be subject to adverse actions, up to and including removal from Federal service.

Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required.
This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Applications will be considered incomplete without proof.
Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
In addition, they must possess a current, active, full and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. In addition to the mandatory license and education described above under Basic Requirements applicants must have at least one or more full years of professional nursing experience that is equivalent to the next lower grade level.
GS-14: Professional Nursing Experience: Organize and manage the nursing service program of a medical facility; supervise subordinate staff; prepare work performance plans, schedules, and evaluated work performance of subordinate staff; as a supervisor initiate and submit required information to fill vacant positions, promote subordinate staff, give advice, counsel or instruction to subordinate staff on administrative matters, hear and resolve complaints from staff, effect disciplinary measures when needed; implement and maintain accreditation requirements; and initiate and uphold quality assurance and improvement methodologies.
Supervisory Abilities: This is a supervisory position and candidates, in addition to the professional qualifications listed, must have demonstrated in their work experience or training, that they possess, or have potential to develop, the qualities of successful supervision.
