The Supervisory IT Specialist leads an integrated staff comprised of government staff and contractors to develop, operate, and maintain software systems used by staff in FDA's Centers and Arkansas Regional Laboratory Offices to complete essential business functions.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Direct a staff of highly trained and qualified project managers and information technology specialists.
Plan, organize, and carry to completion various IT projects identifying the need for advanced Agency and/or Office-wide information systems involving programs and the policies associated with various programs.
Implement state-of-the-art technological advancements through the development and operations of software applications.
It is highly desirable to have experience in both on-premise and Cloud implementations, Agile Development, application security, DevOps, Micro Services architectures, etc
Manage teams and staff, programs/projects, coordinating Agency-wide IT initiatives and related project management tools (i.e Prosight, MS Project, Clarity)
Responsible for communication, including status reporting, risk management, escalation of issues that cannot be resolved on the team/staff, and, in general, making sure the project is delivered in budget, on schedule, and within scope.
Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting and adjusting short-term priorities, and preparing schedules for completion of work.
Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
Develop performance standards and evaluates work performance of subordinates.
Give advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.
Identify developmental and training needs of employees, providing or arranging for needed development and training.
Interview candidates for positions recommending appointment, promotion, or reassignment to such positions.
Find ways to improve production or increase the quality of the work directed.

The position of Supervisory IT Specialist falls under the 2210 occupational series. To qualify for this position at grade GS-14, you must meet the following:
If you are using education completed at foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program.
