In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Biologist:

A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

OR

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Basic Requirement: Physical Scientist

A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

OR

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to one of the majors, as shown in A above, that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education

Basic Requirement: Geography

A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in geography; or related physical or social science such as geology, meteorology, economics, statistics.sociology, anthropology, political science, history, cartography, computer science, urban studies, or planning that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related studies

OR

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major in geography, or a related field that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal government performing work that involved assisting in planning, directing, monitoring, and executing the Regulatory Permit Program, pursuant to Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act and Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, including the review of applications for residential or commercial development, and/or transportation, and/or mitigation related proposals; administered and enforced, or assisted in managing, the program in compliance with governing public laws, regulations, interagency agreements, and policies of higher headquarters. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level/position in the federal service (GS-12)

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).

Supervises a staff of air traffic control specialist who are responsible for carrying out air traffic control assignments within a geographic area. Plans and assigns work to be accomplished by subordinate employees. Sets work priorities and schedules. Approves leave, gives advice, counsel, and instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters. Evaluates performance of employees and recommends performance ratings. Hears and resolves complaints from employees and refers group grievances and more serious unresolved complaints to a higher level manager. Identifies and arranges for developmental and other training needs of employees. Finds ways to improve production or increase the quality of the work directed.
