The Office of the Chief Financial Officer - Assessors division is accepting applications for a Supervisory Financial Analyst III position.
Job Summary
The incumbent of this position is a Supervisory Financial Analyst in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) of the City of Detroit. The Supervisory Financial Analyst Ill will be assigned to lead and supervise professional and paraprofessional staff in the Office of the Assessor.
The Supervisory Financial Analyst III has primary responsibility for planning, implementing, supervising and controlling all valuation analysis related to the modeling of real property. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the implementation of the appropriate software that impact the operations supervised.
Examples of Duties
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Using Assessing.Net and other valuation software supervises/manages the following activities:
Oversees:
Compliance of financial and operational performance measures
Establishes and uses performance measures to improve the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of City services while minimizing the cost of program delivery
Assesses overall performance of City operations
Reviews cost-benefit analyses to compare operating programs, review financial requests, or explore alternative financing methods
GENERAL MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISORY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with major course of work in accounting, business, public administration, or a closely related field. Such education must include at least twenty-four (24) semester (36 terms) credits of coursework in accounting, finance, or economics.
Experience
At least four (4) years of professional experience providing a systematic review, analysis, interpretation, and evaluation of budgets, loans or other financial data.
The Financial Analyst must have two (2) years of verifiable experience leading teams and/or providing guidance and training to subordinate staff.
Supervisor III - no work experience as a Supervisor is required; however, the applicant should have experience in leading teams, projects or other assignments that illustrates supervisory capabilities to supervise Class III occupations.
Equivalency
Equivalent combinations of education and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be evaluated on an individual basis.
