Mandate:The Supervisor - Gas Control and LNG will provide supervision and leadership for the operation, maintenance and repair of pressure regulators, production systems, instruments, odorization equipment, critical valves and SCADA equipment. Responsible for scheduling work to maintain code compliance while maintaining department efficiency and safety.

Job Functions:

  • Plans and distributes daily job assignments and supervises daily activities and production standards of gas control personnel.

  • Troubleshoot regulator and pressure problems, SCADA systems and EGM systems.

  • Develops and manages work plans for capital improvement and routine maintenance of Pressure Regulation, Gas Conditioning, Production and SCADA systems. Operates LNG peak shaving plant(s).

  • Demonstrates a high standard of safety and is willing and able to comply with all safety regulations and Company safety policies.

  • Oversees, adheres to and complies with Collective Bargaining Agreement as it applies to supervision of staff.

  • Manage priorities across all related work activities to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations as they relate to Company O&M Plan, Emergency Plan, and Operator Qualification requires. Ensures adherence to Company policies and procedures.

  • Assists department manager with maintenance planning and plant improvement projects.

  • Assists Manager in creating budget proposals, controls expenditures in area of responsibility and provides periodic reports as required. Effectively and efficiently manages Company resources.

  • Develops and improves plans to achieve Company objectives and goals. Controls expenditures in area of responsibility.

  • Trains employees to work in a safe and efficient manner in conjunction with Company policies, practices, and procedures. Ensures Company policies and procedures are followed.

  • Provides feedback, coaching and coordination of training and development plans for staff.

  • Supports and develops the skills and abilities of employees; effectively guides and manages employees' performance; motivates others to optimize performance; effectively delegates assignments to employees.

  • Serves as a role model in support of the desired corporate culture.

  • Balances strategic focus with flexibility to make continuous adjustments in response to changing business circumstances.

  • Creates and inclusive and respectful culture that fosters respectful collaboration with and across teams.

  • Communicates an environment of transparency, openness and sharing across the

  • Able to devote sufficient time to manage job duties, and be available during core and non-core operating hours to oversee areas of responsibility, meet business needs and meet the needs of customers (internal and external).

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 3-5 years experience in understanding Gas distribution system operations, related operation policies, procedures and practices, including overall knowledge of gas plant; distribution system pressure regulation; SCADA Control; gas supply issue.

  • Meet DOT physical and driver requirements.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Attain and maintain certification under the related Operators Qualification Requirements and CFR 49 Part 193 requirements.

  • Attend and actively participate in the Massachusetts Fire Academy Gas School


  • Skilled in making presentations to senior management, public groups and elected officials

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to make independent decisions.

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills required.

  • Strong organizational and planning skills.

  • Knowledge of business and computer applications and Microsoft Office Suite products.

  • Occasional travel out of state in the US and Canada may be required. A valid passport is required for international travel.

  • Ability to operate electronic devices: SCADA, EGM, AMR/Read One Pros.

  • Ability to work with gas detection equipment.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit for lengthy periods, and reach with hands, arms, and stoop. The employee may occasionally be required to lift heavy materials. Ability to supervise work at heights from ladders and staging, and be able to operate aerial devices in general or from confined spaces in extreme temperatures and the ability to lift 50 pounds required.

Physical Environment

There is exposure to environmental noises and hazards, frequent exposure to extreme cold, hot and wet weather conditions and occasional expose to humidity and other atmospheric conditions. Emergency situations may require working at night and in inclement weather.

Required Personal Protective Equipment

Employees must use hard hats, eye protection hearing protection (where required), safety-toe protective footwear and gloves as required by industry/construction safety standards or as deemed necessary by Company safety policy and procedure
