Mendocino Forest Products Company, LLC (MFP) is seeking a Supervisor, Transportation to join their team based in Calpella, CA!

The base salary for this position is $60,000.00 to $80,000.00. Your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic locations, skills, education and/or experience. Please keep in mind that that the range published is the full base salary. We also offer a generous benefits package.

The Mendocino Companies (Mendocino Forest Products Company, Mendocino Redwood Company, Humboldt Redwood Company, Humboldt Sawmill Company, and Allweather Wood) own nearly 450,000 acres of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC C031337) certificated redwood and Douglas-fir timberland, constitute the largest waterborne wood treater in the Western USA, and is the largest producer of redwood lumber in the world. Collectively providing 950 employees and their families with excellent wages and benefits in communities throughout the Western USA. Additionally, the Mendocino Companies own and operate a 25-megaWatt biomass cogeneration power plant and wood pellet plant.

The Transportation Supervisor oversees all aspects of transportation operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, optimizing logistics efficiency, and fostering a culture of excellence within the dispatch team. This role requires a strong understanding of commercial vehicle operations and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to our customers.

Responsibilities

  • This position will supervise the dispatch team members while guiding employees toward attainment of Company and individual goals and objectives in accordance with Company guidelines, and performance management systems.

  • Utilize effective routing and dispatching strategies to maximize productivity and minimize costs.

  • Coordinate deliveries and pick-ups, to optimize transportation performance and ensure efficient resource utilization.

  • Ensure drivers' compliance with all safety requirements, Federal and State DOT regulations, and environmental standards.

  • Maintains mileage and shipping rates for company deliveries including:

  • Maintaining Fuel Surcharge records

  • Ensuring proper rates are utilized at all locations.

  • Researching market haul rates.

  • Reviewing and maintaining mileage to destination records.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with carriers, ensuring reliable and cost-effective transportation services.

  • Update and analyze freight rates, sharing insights with management for decision making.

  • Generate and distribute Management reports on transportation performance and compliance.

  • Monitor driver performance, address complaints, and resolve issues in collaboration with management.

  • Oversees scheduling of random drug testing for drivers and manages service schedules for trucks and trailers.

  • Maintain company driver relations, research and resolve driver issues and share information with the fleet manager for decision making.

  • Assist the Fleet Manager with administrative tasks, including interviewing, training, and performance management.

  • Assist in overseeing the safety program for company drivers, conducting training and audits as needed.

  • Cross trained to cover other aspects of the transportation department as needed.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience with DOT regulations and industry best practice.

  • Proficiency in transportations management systems (TMS) and electronic logging devices (ELD).

  • Excellent communication, leadership, time management and organizational skills.

  • Bilingual proficiency preferred.

  • High school diploma and minimum 3-5 years of experience in transportation management or related field.

  • Ability to analyze data, calculate rates, and make data-driven decisions.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and transportation management software.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, and talk or hear.

  • The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
