  • Position Summary (INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY)
  • This position will have supervisory responsibility over specialty pharmacists and will report to the specialty pharmacy manager. Responsibilities include: Assisting with the schedule; recruitment of new staff; implementation of new systems, training events, education and policy creation; auditing patient charts and other regulatory requirements on an annual basis; assisting in pharmacist workflow on a weekly basis; other tasks as assigned. This supervisor will work closely with, but not limited to technician supervisor(s), the fulfillment team, the retail team and some clinics as needed.

Experience managing personnel is preferred, but not required. Strong communication skills and both group and individually led projects are required.

  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Education: A Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or Masters in Hospital Pharmacy or Business Administration is preferred.

  • License/Certifications: An active Maine license as a registered pharmacist is required.

  • Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in hospital pharmacy preferred. A general or specialized pharmacy residency is preferred. Experience in a large academic medical center is preferred.

  • Preferred in depth background in pharmacy operations and personnel management.

  • Must possess good experience in the development of programs focused on achieving positive outcome in the training and education of department personnel.

  • Experience must be directly related to pharmacy service development and implementation.

  • Good communication (both verbal and written) and effective presentation skills utilizing various types of media.

  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of drug dosages, significant interactions, allergies and is able to apply the principles to specific patient related situations.

  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of rules, regulations, policies and laws pertaining to the preparation, storage, procurement use and disposal of medications in the practice of Pharmacy.
