Job Description
Supervisor is a formal leader within the rehabilitation services department. Role will have primary responsibility in acute care. Role may be filled by a clinician from either the occupational therapy, physical therapy or speech language pathology disciplines. Partners with manager/director in responsibility for all resources and functions related to patient care including work flow, PI, regulatory compliance, and communication. May remain a member of the patient care team. Partners with the multidisciplinary team in responsibility for achieving quality outcomes, high patient satisfaction, and implementing the department strategic plan.
Supervises specific administrative, clinical, and staffing functions related to the daily operations as assigned while Manager or Director holds ultimate authority over department functions.
Utilizes staff time and talents to achieve results through delegation of select responsibilities.
Participates in a leadership role that may include interviewing, hiring decisions, program management, staff clinical competency, quality improvement, conflict resolution, and daily operational decisions.
Delegates and instructs supportive personnel. Performs all other duties as requested by the manager/director.
Collaborates with peers at system level for programming and utilization of resources.
Models effective communication, professional judgement, critical thinking, problem solving and serves as a positive change agent.
Serves as liaison for communication between rehab staff and manager/director; keeps manager/director informed of issues arising in department.
Champions employee engagement process in department.
Seeks out and initiates opportunities to be a clinical resource for the department and/or hospital and/or system
Oversees onboarding, training, and development of assigned employees including participating in coaching, discipline, and performance management process.
