The role you'll contribute:

Provides direct supervision for clinical and non-clinical rehabilitation staff in an outpatient setting for AdventHealth Sports Med and Rehab. Duties include department staffing/scheduling, coordination of department competencies, performance management and hiring and retention of staff. Achieves department and service line standards related to quality, regulatory compliance, customer, physician, and associate satisfaction. Participates in evaluating and implementing department process and quality improvement activities. Provides patient care as indicated.

  • Responsible for daily operations including staffing, patient scheduling, documentation, monitoring and auditing, staff professional development as it pertains to the unit or clinic, as well as staff coaching.

  • Assists with selection, assignment and retention of staff, ensuring equal employment opportunity in hiring and promotion.

  • Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities and directing the work.

  • Performs daily editing and management of associate time keeping system.

  • Conducts performance evaluations, coaching and disciplinary action.

  • Assists in implementing ongoing education, competency plans and orientation process.

  • Serves as liaison between staff and other areas within the facility at large and as an advisor to other disciplines.

  • Responsible to achieve service line standards related to quality care/outcomes, and patient/family and associate satisfaction. Assists in outcome monitoring and reporting.

  • Responsible to ensure the safety and maintenance of their designated department, including proper monitoring and needed repairs to the Rehab equipment.

  • Assists with implementing process and quality improvement projects.

  • Implements actions to achieve department goals related to: budgets, communication plans, staff, teamwork, and other initiatives as identified.

  • May assist with strategic planning, marketing, and program development.

  • Responsible for compliance with all regulatory agencies, Federal, State and hospital standards.

  • Evaluates assigned patients and develops treatment plans including specific goals and activities, reassessing and modifying plans as necessary based on patient's current level of function and makes appropriate disposition recommendations.

  • Performs a variety of best practice and evidence based therapeutic interventions to address the unique rehabilitation needs of each patient. Selects and implements therapy activities per plan of care to ensure that patient, family and therapy goals are met.

  • Recognizes individual limitations and capabilities and utilizes available resources. Evaluates patients' learning style and appropriately teaches patients skills and techniques required for participation in therapist.

  • Consistently demonstrates flexibility as evidenced by floating to other areas, sites and is available to work flexible schedules including weekends, holidays and after hours.

  • Consults with other members of rehabilitation team to select the most appropriate activity and/or program for individual patients, based on patient needs and capabilities.

  • Communicates effectively to all patients, families, staff, physicians and other customers concerning physical medicine and rehabilitation services by direct verbal and/or written communication respecting confidentiality at all times.

  • Demonstrates effective time management and is proactive in prioritizing workload and meeting productivity requirements.

  • Documents all patient care activities including evaluations, progress notes and detailed treatment records per standards of practice and regulatory/third party payer requirements.

  • Facilitates preparation of patient schedules, billing charges and other reports per medical records procedure through timely completion of documentation per policy. On all documentation, utilizes descriptive, behavioral terms using correct grammar, organizationally approved abbreviations and medical terminology.

  • Documents ongoing status, interventions, patient response and outcomes to correctly capture billing charges.

  • Participates in personal, professional and program development by attending department in-services, meetings and by sharing professional expertise to enhance quality of professional services and staff development.

  • Assists in training Physical Medicine & Rehab staff, students and other hospital personnel.

  • Acts as a resource for new staff members and co-workers by sharing information and providing education.

  • Adheres to professional code of ethics (APTA, AOTA or ASHA) and to all accreditation and regulatory requirements.

  • Adapts to rapidly changing technologies, policies, regulations, census and staffing through priority setting and flexibility.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed :

Required

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in health care related field

Experience

  • Two years of applicable work experience providing direct patient care in outpatient, inpatient or inpatient rehab unit.

Preferred

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech Therapy

Experience

  • One year of previous leadership experience

  • Prior use of electronic medical records (EMR)

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required

  • Current Colorado license

  • Physical Therapy license OR Occupational Therapist license and registry OR Speech Language Pathologist license and certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech Language Hearing Association

  • BLS issued from American Heart Association
