QA Supervisor

Summary Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the following, other duties may be assigned.

  • Supervises and coordinates activities of auditors and inspectors, to include payroll management and performance evaluations.

  • Maintain quality standards and procedures for verification and/or calibration of product tools, test equipment and finished products.

  • Performs process audits, testing, measurements and prepare reports to verify established specifications.

  • Must be able to communicate with R&D, Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing and suppliers on quality issues.

  • Creates part inspection plans and inspects a wide variety of parts or units for dimensions, missing operations or components, quality of finish and surface or contour imperfections with the ability to interpret dimensional drawings and models.

  • Creates Non-Conforming Reports and Evidence Packages when necessary.

  • Charts and interprets statistical process control data.

  • May recommend production shutdown.

  • Implements company policies to workers; enforces safety regulations and conducts disciplinary sessions.

  • Investigates employee related issues, grievances and recommends resolution.

  • Recommends measure to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product and E.V.A. drivers.

  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop department or work crew.

  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems and identifying training needs.

  • Maintains time and production records.

  • Conducts communication meetings with department.

  • Manage the rejection area to ensure that material is turning appropriately.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision and exercise good judgement.

  • Must be able to understand and use various Quality tools such as Pareto Charts, Control Charts, Scatter Diagrams, etc.

  • Must be able to write reports with detailed explanations of quality problems.

  • Must understand and follow Quality Concepts, Standards and Procedures.

  • Must be able to use and train employees on the use of precision measuring instruments.

  • Must be able to interpret/use engineering drawings and product masters.

  • Familiar with technical concepts and processes.

  • Familiar with basic computer uses - Work, Excel.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification as a Mechanical Inspector or Auditor desirable.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as Pareto charts, Scatter Diagrams, 3UP charts and other continuous improvement tools. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Computer Skills

Knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office applications
